Hi all, just a quick question, does anyone recognise who this rather distinguished VC winner is, any help appreciated

Mutiny Medal [under his shoulder belt] and a two bar [???] Medal is what it looks like.  IGS 1895 would have him a very long service man indeed but I think I see a tri-colour ribbon.  Clearly a Rifles unit, or perhaps one of the Indian units with Rifles or LI affilitiations.

The manner of wearing the medals suggests to me an earlier - pre-1880-90 - time period, as does the facila hair but other than that, now great insights I'm afraid.  I'd focus on the Mutiny.

Whilst looking, I came across this interesting image, both the VC AND Iron Cross, no name unfortunately, image credit indicated

Why didn't I get IGS 1854 for William Pitcher?  Old age is the pits!

And William Manley was an early version of a 'Lend-Lease' officer.  Interesting indeed.  I suppose he's the only chap to have that particular array of medals and awards.
