Sgt. Kohlmann's Uniform

Recommended Posts

Gents,

Here is Sgt Wilhelm Kohlmann, an ancestor.  Some help on identifying his unit and decoration would be most appreciated.  Appears to be PRE-WW1, based on my research in an excellent book by Mr. Coil, detailing uniforms during WW1, so I turn to you for any assistance.  Thanks for your time and effort.

he is "Feldwebel". The medal is "Militär-Jubiläumsmedaille 1848 - 1898" (Jubilee medal 1898 - 1898).

The pic was taken in Josephstadt. Therefore it would be possible that he was a member of IR 36 which had "blassrot" (pale red) as regimental colour.

Regards

Christian
