Chris Boonzaier Posted January 24, 2019 Share Posted January 24, 2019 Some guys are very, very, very brave... and In the eye of the storm (25 June 1916 at Fleury for example) They get buried by shellfire, dig themselves out, then under heavy shellfire they dig their comrade out, then report to their CO and insist they are still fit for duty, go back into the battle to find the unit relieving then and guide that unit into position kinda Brave... ... and some of us are brave enough to buy a superb group... no matter what the hell the wife has to say 'bout it.... HI, nope, when Hitler came to power Uniforms and Medals became important and Interesting again... SA, NSFK, NSKK, Postmen, Firemen etc. etc. were all wearing medals again, something noone was interested in in the 15 years before that... so you see a lot of these 1930s wound badge docs for guys who were awarded the badge (or in some cases should have gotten it but had demobilised and could not be bothered to chase one down) and had no proof... so they applied for these docs confirming their entitlement top the wound badge... He suffered a wound to the chin/Jaw in 1917 that kept him in hospital for almost a year... I am assuming the beard was not only traditional, but also partially to hide the wound....
