USMC HELMET COVER QUESTION

Recommended Posts

Greetings Gentlemen,

Does anyone know when the USMC started stenciling the EGA on their helmet covers? Was this done in WW2 or later. Attached is a photo of my Father's issued USMC helmet cover. He served 1957-60.

Thank you for any info & Semper Fi!

Vince

Hi Vince, according to Jim Moran's book on USMC uniforms and equipment the EGA on the helmet cover was unauthorised during WW2. However this didn't stop some Marines painting a EGA on their helmet covers. Hope this helps.

Hello & thank you!

I just purchased that book and found that same reference last night! I have seen some photos with it applied during the war but very few.

Thanks again!
