    Gebirgsjäger Feldwebel with foreign medal

    Recommended Posts

    Grüß Gott Kameraden,

Here's a recent Gebirgsjäger portrait addition to my collection of a battle tested Feldwebel, but I have not been able to identify the medal above his Iron Cross 1st Class.  Someone on another forum suggested that it might be the Romanian Virtute Militara.  Can anyone ID it and was this medal awarded to German troops?  Thanks in advance.

Hello. Could be the Medalia Virtutea Militara . it was the highest award for Romanian NCOs and Soldiers. respect if it was awarded to Germans allies its the most probable. the only strange thing about the photo is that the Feldwebel carries his decoration without the ribbon ,

Looks like he wears the ribbon on his pocket flap. Look closely
