But that looks like the metal version to me. Bob Posted December 27, 2015 Share Posted December 27, 2015 Cleaning up my archives and posting a lot of stuff which I hadn't posted yet. Here is a documented Friendship Medal - bought in Ukraine and eventually found its way to me. The medal was awarded in December 1967 to a Soviet specialist who worked in Mongolia. His name is Sorokin Yurii Evlampievich. The medal has a serial number 873. The serial number and the date of the award indicates that the medal belongs to one of the first recipients. The first 6000 Nairamdal medals were received by the Mongolian Supreme in October 1967. The Nairamdal Medal was instituted in April 1967. The medal #873 was awarded on December 12, 1967. An attempt was made to research this medal and what came out was that the Decree #166 did not list the names but was generic. The decree was issued to award 924 Soviet military and civilian specialists and officials on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the October revolution. Among the 924 people, 878 people were awarded the Nairamdal Medals. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have a document for a Friendship Medal in the 600s from the same decree, also to a Russian. Nice to know what it's for finally, altho haven't found info on the recipient specifically. Also have another doc to a Russian for a medal in the 6000s from decree of 1976.1.9 No. 4. Any chance you've run into this date before?
