    About this blog

Would you -- or have you -- done your own repair to enameled orders of decoration? I collect pristine examples from the get-got but part of me cannot resist the self repairing of enamel on orders of decoration when there are chips or cracks.  What is your own opinion as a collector and does it really matter more on the level of market value? Same thing with swords. I cannot stand the dullness of faded gilding on swords and I have used everything from TarnX to Mothers semi chrome to bring out the finish and thus viewing. Thoughts? I know I will hear from purists out there but would like to hear a mix of opinions. I cannot stand dullness in half worn off gilding on anything - bronze etc.
