Crown & Swords: Bavarian Silver 08

This single piece device is on a 1916-34 ribbon bar. Placed after the same ribbon with just silver swords tells us that this was meant as a Military Merit Cross 2nd Class with Crown and Swords.

The binding at the overlap of the two swords was typical--but by no means always usual--for Bavarian devices, since it closely represented the full size crossed swords over the top arm of the Bavarian MMO and MMC crosses.

This one has particularly ugly "stubby" short swords-- the sort of strange deign that might some day identify the manufacturer from a period sales catalog.
