This pleasing large one piece WW2 era device represents a Bavarian Military Merit Order 4th Class with Crown and Swords.

On the ribbon bar of Luftwaffe Generalstabsarzt Professor Dr.med. et Dr.phil. Ernst Koschel (1875-1961).

"Situationally," it could also have represented an NCO's Military Merit Cross 2nd Class, if the original ribbon bar's owner was not identifiable.
