Medal: M1937 Red Cross
Like Prussian long service ribbons, the German Red Cross used the same ribbon for all of its awards 1922-1945. Under the Third Reich, there were official "Kleindekoration" devices to allow for reduced-form weaar of pinback and neck-grade awards as ribbon bar awards.
No such devices were authorized for the medal bar grade classes.
DESPITE that, devices are found for the 1937-39 Red Cross Medal (here0 and its 1939-45 successor, the Volkspflege Medal.
Useful... but unauthorized.
