Wreath & Swastika 01

This gold and black enamelled swastika is the "Kleindekoration" device for a Commander grade Red Cross M1937 or M1939 Volkspflege neck grade award when worn in "reduced form" on a ribbon bar.

These were awarded by the rank and status of the recipient and not degree of merit, so they should be expected ONLY on bars which can be attributed to full Colonels and lower ranking Generals.

This particular example is on the ribbon bar of a Luftwaffe medical general, and the complete bar and explanatory text will be seen in the main Article section.

This device shows up frequently as a cast and/or painted fraud on fake ribbon bars.

The scan of this ORIGINAL makes the wreath's leaves seem cruder than they actually are. This is a delicate and pretty little device. And the Nazi emblem which fills it should ONLY be in perfect black enamel, never paint!!!!
