Real silver, these mimic the fuull size Military Merit Order 4th Class swords, with the "binding" in the design of the swords over the top arm of the blue enamelled Order.

Cavalry officers like this nobleman liked sew-on wide ribbons, probably because it felt "English." But the wiggle wear means few have survived, and even this one has substantial rubbing damage. See the main text section of the Article.
