    Bar: Colonial Battle/Campaign: Herero-Hottentot War 1904-06

"Grossnamaland" and "Hereroland" were the two commonest action bars for the Herero-Hottentot War. They represent operations anywhere in those areas and not the much rarer bars for specific skirmishes.

Note the difference in size and style here. That can only be expected with minimal demand stock items from 30 years after that colonial war. Most ribbon bars 1915+ have no such bars at all. That was probably a result of non-availability. Most military effects dealers wouldn't have wanted "dead stock" paid for and lying around for years and years without sufficient retail demand.

This ribbon bar is a set with a matching medal bar to the same recipient.
