Bar: Colonial Battle/Campaign: Southwest Africa
"Kalahari 1908" though attached to the 1904-1906 Hottentot/Herero War Medal, actually had nothing to do with that war and so was actually sort of a prequel to the general Colonial Medal of 1912 that retroactively had bars for campaigns going back to the 1880s where there had been no medals authorized before except for China 1900-1901 and Southwest Africa 1904-1906.
By the 1930s, given the small numbers of men originally entitled, deducting those who never bothered looking or paying for these tiny bars... any colonial miniature bars are rare. A rare full size one like "1908" is even rarer.
