    Austro-Hungarian WW1 Ribbon Bar 03

These two enlisted men show the normal Austrian method of wearing awards better than the overlapped General--

each award had a horizontal "string" sewn on the tunic. Full size medals were hooked and unhooked over and under each loop. As can be seen here, each individual ribbon bar was also snapped, clipped, or hooked onto the individual horizontal "strings."

Notice though both are wearing the 1917 Karl Troop Cross ribbon after a bravery medaal ribbon, the electrical units Gefreiter on the right is stille wearing an "FJI" rather than "K" cap cockade.
