  1. Hello there, New guy here! I've always been interested in the coastal sectors of the western front and have collected quite a few photo's relating to the German Matrosen Divisions. Thought I might share some of my collection, so here ya go! A rather interesting photo giving us a look at the trenches of the German "See Kessel Stellung" with two Matrosen posing for the photo. One of them is wearing a Red Cross armband. If you look close enough you can spot a few more sailors wandering around. To the left was "No Man's Land" and just behind the dunes on the left, would be the North-Sea.

  5. This is so hard for me to decide. If this thread is limited to Imperial German, then It narrow it down a little. Though it has little value to the collector community, it is extremely valuable to me: It would have to be my Great Grandpa’s Grouping. 1) Broke ‘14 EKII 2)MilitarpaB 3) Trenchart Bracelet that was used as engagement Ring when he got married in 1917. 4) 1922 Deutchmark/Reichmark the year he immigrated to the US. *I have posted before, but I will post again. Second would be the R109 (Baden RIR 109) Pickelhaube Cover that I collected.

  7. I've spent a long time trying to ascertain all his decorations, as far as his medal bar goes, the two he seems to have been photographed the most with are these two, I think I've got them correct, they are digital recreations, they might help, comments, if wrong are welcome regards Alex K

  9. Hello gents, I recently acquired a batch of EKIIs in various conditions. This one stood out by far as the most pristine EKII I've ever seen. Just wanted to run it past you all here. Thanks, Ravs

  15. Try the royal sachson staatshandücher to be found here http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/Staatshandbuch#Sachsen.2C_K.C3.B6nigreich_.281806-1918.29 Probably the best thing to do is make a list of the scvo2b and the seho2b and cross-reference. Secondly you might be able to check with a belgian member for the BLGL3

  18. Maybe the Saxon order of Albrecht or the Baden Zähringen Löwe, the quality isn't great. The second award is a FEK. If he studied at university he probably joined the war as a Leutnant which means his awards should be listed somewhere. Kind regards, Laurentius

  25. Hi Megan, "I'd guess this is a fantasy bar of whatever ribbons the vendor could get his paws on." Please see my previous comment. This bar is based on a bar of Armeegeneral Mielke, but it is not the original. The various organisations set great value on conferring their decorations on Mielke! Uwe

  26. Given a jumble of Soviet and DDR awards, and apparent service in Army, Police, Customs, Border Guards AND State Security... not to mention Construction, Railways, and Agriculture... I'd guess this is a fantasy bar of whatever ribbons the vendor could get his paws on.
