I really find your sense of morality, your view of what history is and the way you have deemed to preserve history rather warped to say the least.

This forum is for military collectors. You said yourself that you are not a collector; you are simply an entrepreneur looking at making some quick money out of market demands. Did you really expect to come to a military collector?s community, sell us your spin, and receive some kind of acceptance and understanding for what you?

You are the very model of antipathy to every genuine military collector !

Yes no doubt some of your ribbon bars will go to the groups to which you try and justify your trade i.e. re-enactors. But as you no doubt realise, the majority will be going to less scrupulous individuals and dealers who will look at ripping off and selling them on as original genuine wartime items to this very community. Your friendly tones cut no ice here old chap.

You try to justify your position by wrapping it all up in some historical preservation ideal by using original parts and ribbons and that you, being the son of a German veteran, gives you some kind of right to do so. All flimflam, smoke and mirrors or as you would say in Texas BS.

You have no intentions of marking your items fake, as you know that it would reduce your sales. Genuine re-enactors would have no issue with an item being clearly marked as reproduction as you would not see the marking stamped on the rear. But you know that would reduce your sales, as the majority of them go to fellow charlatans and fraudsters.

You are not welcome here as this forum is for Military Collectors. You by your own admission are not one, nor are you a friend to this community.

Interestingly Gerth himself seems to be wearing the insignia as shown, all the others seem only to be wearing a metal Totenkopf on the left sleeve.

Anyone know where/how Gerth was awarded his Pour Le Merit ?

Information on Daniel Gerth is limited, but he was killed during the Night of the long Knives. He was a SA Obersturmf?hrer, and an adjutant to Ernst R?hm. I will do some more digging.

This is the owners grandfather Julius Grzesny, born in 1901 in a very small village called "Malsch?wen" near the town of "Mensguth". These photo's are believed to be taken in about 1919/1920

This mans surname is "Klimmek" which is written on the backside of the photo. It is beleived all these photos were taken in the town of Braunsberg in East-Prussia.

Christian I have no idea what you are babbling on about in relation to EU law.

I can assure you I am quite aufait with UK law and ECHR in relation to:

a) what can lawfully and legally be discussed here at GMIC (being a forum owned and controlled by a citizen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain),

b) can reassure you and all members that the rules and moral standards that are applied here would never even come close to breaching any statute,

and

c) also within my limited understanding of laws in certain European States that forbid the sale and promotion or glorification of anything related to the Third Reich or nazi party , this does not apply when the items or discussions are used in an art form, for scientific or historical research, teaching or reporting. I think this forum easily falls within the historic research context and anyone posting anything otherwise would automatically fall outside of forum rules, so the point is mute.

This has deviated into one of those classic 'who was worse? Stalin or Hitler' threads which are prevalent across a multitude of internet forums. They usually devolve into body counts and examples of brutality in an attempt to either somehow demonstrate one regime was more evil than the other, or even worse make a case to excuse one genocide as being somehow not half as bad as the other. Unfortunately such rhetoric just serves to support individuals with perverted ideology from both sides of the political fence.

I am glad to say so far this has not happened, but this is dangerous ground to tread and as a consequence this topic may be locked.
