It's a Prinzen remember gents - and damn close to the way good originals look.
I would have at least asked for better photo's of the oddly spaced date area to make sure that wasn't just a trick of the light...
I don't hate it..

My feelings exactly. I have a feeling this one might just have been good.

.Signature is wrong I'm afraid. From July 1942 to the end of the war, FdU West was Hans-Rudolf R?sing.
I can't see anything that looks remotely like this signature in the Kriegsmarine rank lists for Kapit?n zur See or above.

Anyone else spot this one

Apart from the obviously incorrect ribbon, the core looks pretty good.

Damn!!! How do you do it Michel ??

Can anyone suggest a way to ID this guy. His rank insignia suggest he is a full Colonel. Any way of knowing which branch ? Is the "39" on the collar a Regimental number ?
Needless to say, I grabbed this photo because of the Orders and Medals he is wearing. All three orders, Sacred Treasure, Rising Sun and Golden Kite on display with a load of other medals.

Its worth noting too that fakes of this Hymmen style badge were also made in the States and marked with spurious Schwerin markings, so not surprising that many people got the idea that all this type were fake.
Mind you it was nice that for a while no one wanted them so good originals could be picked up very cheap

Very nice case. Obviously Grand Cross ;>) I would guess 1895-1920 as more appropriate for the case/style/construction
Perhaps even later. Museum replicas of the 1870s to include the Grand Cross were also made in the Third Reich period. The case is not dissimilar to the TR case for the Grand Cross ( not the fancy red leather covered one that Goering got). The fastening clip is also similar to the one used on the case for the Knights Cross of the War Merit Cross. Very nice and interesting case either way.

Clasp looks great!
But is that u-boat badge a fake? I have never seen a pin and clasp such as that before. The uboat doesnt look right either... the propeller/rudder area seems to have no details... like no scew at all!
The theory that this type of badge without propeller detail etc was fake was blown out of the water some time ago. In fact the exact design was shown on an series of original wartime propaganda postcards with war badges in the "Tag der Wehrmacht" series.
I have to admit the pin looks a bit dodgy but in fact is also a legitimate style for the period and can also be found on the Imperial U-Boat Badge, possibly from the same maker.

I'd say the clasp is absolutely fine.
The U-Boat badge is not Hymmen. It is very very similar but not identical to Hymmen.

I'd like to see the whole of the lettering on the reverse but from I can see it looks good.

Hello Eduardo,
As far as I know, it was next in line to be printed after the new Bender book which has just appeared, about the Waffenrock.

Anyone seen one like this before ?
Silvering is gone, down to brass base metal. Crown, oakleaves and 1813 on obverse and on the reverse a maker mark "G".

Isn't that the "Z" (or "N") maker stamp on the ring of the 1813 cross ?

Just like to say thanks to Dan for allowing me to give his mini Aux Cruiser a new home. Here he is in his case, all cosy with Big Brother.

However if you were a member of the Bundeswehr and wanted to wear your pre-1945 awards, you need to show proof that you receive them, the Bundeswehr also re-issue pre-1945 documents (intrestinly them still had "In names des fuhrer" writen on them
).
I think thats pretty much a universal rule in every army everywhere, that a soldier would need to be able to prove that he was entitled to any medals he wisheds to wear.

Obverse die characteristics look like a good match too.

Yes, the striations on the reverse are a common feature of good original Schott badges. The one posted looks pretty much like this 100% original

Hello Gordon
You are very polite . Many thanks
I am looking for a UBoat clasp silver can you help me ?
yours sincerely
giorgio
I'm afraid I sold my spare silver Clasp a few months back. Very good condition pieces are hard to find, most later examples where the silvering was applied direct to the zink base metal have severe bubbling to the silver finish. Expect a price of around $2000 or more for a really good one.

Spot on !

OK, I guess its too difficult from the first shot. Its actually an MG42 position covering a rather well known bridge from the rock face above. Robert Vaughn (The Man from Uncle) being its defender in the movie.

Its an original F&BL.

Okay, clues - 1) its in Germany 2) Think "Man from Uncle"

Final mystery piece. Dave will remember selling me a nice EK2 marked WP on the small ring retaining eye. This one has a similar mark (out of focus pic to show its position, its not good enough to ID the mark) but looks to be WS. Again a totally different core and frame. Any ideas ? The clearly WP marked eye is on the cross at left.

This one looks like a badly struck SW, but again the core is different to a clearly marked S W I have. Did SW have more than one core ?

These can be dangerous for sure. I saw one which had German size marking etc stamped inside but was a pattern not used until after the fall of France so could not be one of the captured stock. Price of course was much more than a regular British battledress blouse.
