    1. Hello, After doing some research and comparing these 2nd class crosses, which started this topic, I am quite sure they are also made by S&L Jani
    2. Hi, The department of antiquities is ongoing a long project to digitalize material and organize it. Some of the material has been made available in public, like regimental diaries. I am afraid they will not make medal cards public as they do not do with the "kantakortti" service records. That material has information that is considered personal and even now can not be obtained without permission, especially if the person is still alive. Big problem for them is however, that they dont know who is alive. You need permission from family or excuse (Which means you are making historical research) to order the service records. I have ordered dozens of those and I have encountered one who was court martialed fo shooting POW's and some who have been fleeing from the front. They dont want details like this to be spread freely expecially if the person is alive. What comes to award cards, the current process is the following: First you have to request the lot number from secretary of the Order of the cross of Liberty - you need to know the name and year of birth helps. Then they will tell you lot number where you will find carton of award cadfs in alpabetical order. There are lots of lots...Even complicated, this process has worked. Jani
    3. Thanks Chuck, I noticed that first one on collectrussia. Every dealer web site should visit there to see how items should be pictured. Jani
    4. Thanks! I have thought the designs were made and perhaps tools, but I have never even heard of actual original badge - even a prototype to exists. Somebody even told me that some of the current fakes would have been made with original dies (?) Is that picture on Aver described as original prototype? I got to get Avers 8, my latest is #4. Jani
    5. Hello, I found good article about OSOAVIAKhiM badges, which even translated well with Google. However I dont know the source, so comments on credibility of this article would be appreciated. (I have never seen so many ads in one page http://valerikon01.blogspot.com/2012/08/blog-post_4501.html By the way. Good idea to search for information with the language you dont know is to put certain term to google picture search. I used term "OSOAVIAKhiM badge" in russian with cyrillic letters and found of lot of interesting stuff through pictures. Jani
    6. Finnish medal of Liberty 2nd class ribbon has narrower yellow stripes so not that one. Also the medal of Liberty was given for enlisted ranks only. Jani
    7. Hello, You can send query to the Order of the Cross of Liberty, and the data is there. Unfortunately some part of the archives is currently under digitalizing and therefore all award cards are not accessible until its done. Send me PM and I can forward your inquiry to friend of mine who do these kind of researches. He knows the current situation. Jani
    8. One more, This is likely some Competition badge, but I would like to know exactly what? I would appreciate all the help, Jani
    9. Best for the last: These I believe are original, however I would be happy if someone would translate what the engraving on the reverse says?
    10. This one I have absolutely no idea. I have one book about Soviet badges (Printed in 2002) and I would be happy to get suggestions of better ones Does the latest Avers have good pictures of originals?
    11. Another: Two slightly different badges, which I have found so many different names, that I only dare to ask what might be the official one Are these another type of Voroshilov badges awarded by OSOAVIAKhiM, since I think that name is in these and the previous one? At least neither was among the tons of different fakes I found.
    12. Dear Friends, Attached pictures of some Cavalry and horse riding badges. I have problems (as usual to identify them all most of all... authenticate. First: Voroshilov Horseman badge
    13. Dear Friends, The topic says the name of this badge, but can you tell me for what it was actually given? And could the one pictured be original? Jani
    14. Suvorov 2nd class with doc - awarded to unit, not for person. I will post some pictures now and more tomorrow. I assume its fake, but I cant make decision since I am novice with the documents and order itself looks good - for me it looks like mix of two variations, not exactly like any pictured in mondvor, but still something I need to check from better experts. It is gold.
