    1. Dear Friends, I am trying to help fellow GMIC-member to find the owner for his ribbon bar with some Finnish awards. I would need the list of Orders and decorations (German) awarded to: General Iwan Heunert http://www.geocities.com/~orion47/WEHRMACHT/HEER/Generalleutnant/HEUNERT_IWAN.html and Colonel Ernst Wilhelm Eduard Ausfeld (later Ausfelt, 1885–1946) I dont have web page other than in Finnish. I believe he stayed in Finland after the war. AND What would be good source to find list of awards for WW1 to WW2 German officers? Anything easier than yearly ranklists? At least for higher ranks from colonel to Generals? For my other research I would need to know If anybody knows where the awards of Oberst Freiherr Otto von Brandenstein are? (Pour Le Merite awarded on -- 15 May 1918) Regards, Jani
    2. It would be possible if someone has list of German recipients for that Estonian Eagle cross 3rd class (Not the Order of the Eagle), that white cross is Estonian civil guards award. Do you have that bar in your collection = Do you need help for trying to find the recipient? Jani
    3. Thank you for information, At the other forum I ended up adding some pictures - and as assumed he has been flight instructor. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=583594 Jani
    4. Dear Friends, I managed to acquire complete set of pilot's log books (3) for the person named: Friedrich Dohmeyer - sergeant, Stuka Pilot (I need to re-check the spelling and see if the name is written same in all occassions) Three log books consists the period from Jan 1939 til May 1945 - 1511 sorties. He was stationed in Finland Jan 44 - Jan 45. What is interesting to me is naturally the period in Finland. I dont know where to start? I believe he might even have German Cross in Gold, but I dont have LW data for recipients. Are there any unit history on Schlachtgeschwader 5? Since this was for sure his unit at least for a short period of time in Finland. Where I could find his personal data? With best regards, Jani Tiainen
    5. Hello, To avoid confusion with me and Medalhouse. Medalhouse still exists as a company, but I have no knowledge when they would start having auctions. I left the company in June 2010. I am currently working with my own company Finnmedals in co-operation with Christian Lehrle's www.benemerenti.de (Which has next auction 1300+ items in April 2012) Medalhouse web site has not been updated for a long time and I am little bit frustrated since my name is still there. 6. Hello, To clarify this: Medalhouse still exists as a company, but I have no knowledge when they would start having auctions. I left the company in June 2010. 7. Dear Friends, Its been a while since I was in GMIC last time (Too many children & work & politics) That eBay thing was a S&L manufacture - however they did not make those until the 1950's-1980's. I guess their purpose was to fill the demand from german veterans, but nobody in Ludenscheid checked wheter Mannerheim Cross was ever awarded to foreigner - No... Even this post war cross is quite rare. It is unofficial type since S&L did not have permission from Order of the Cross Liberty. Technically Mannerheim cross is not high enough in cultural value to have export restrictions. 191 awarded is not unique historical artifact as law says. In case of taking Mannerheim cross out of Finland you might still be in trouble if seized in customs and you would have to apply the permission to take it out. The Mannerheim crosses in case of export would be evaluated by the recipient. Crosses awarded to important historical persons such as generals might not get the export lisence. The case with Pajari's lot in British auction and the return of the items to Finland was not primarily based in export law - however the ownership of the lot was questioned and it took years to solve until the lot was finally sold in Finland. Naturally the strong actions by department of antiquity and some politicians had effect on the case, but the return was not based on the lack of export lisence. However, Aarno Pajari was one out of four who got Mannerheim cross twice (with crosses batons) and likely the lot would not have got the lisence If ever applied. Jani
    8. Please educate me I am not upset since 90% of the items like these I see are fakes... Jani
    9. Thanks for your input, It really seems that Nakhimov is definetly original. Suvorov does not match the reference pieces I have on my database - it has actually too sharp details. With best regards, Jani
    10. Dear Friends, I want to share pictures of two rare awards, that came from old collection from Finland. The Order of Suvorov 3rd class is the 1st type, 1st variation and I am quite sure it is original. The Order of Nakhimov has some period repair (Screw) on reverse and I have not had possibility to reasearch it completely. However I am grateful for any comments. Unfortunately I am not allowed to show the numbers before I am the owner of these items. Suvorov is 2-digit typically engraved and Nakhimov 3-digit. With best regards, Jani
    11. My book about Finnish Orders and Medals is ready! Huge gorilla just jumped away from my shoulders...

    12. Many Thanks to Hisashi! I got the following information: The list reads Tamura Shiro was killed in 1938, not 1940, in 河南省. 河南省 is northern neighbor of 湖北省, where the division engaged in the battle of Wuhan in 1938. Don't take the word 'neighboring' so rigorously. China is a big country and Germany is neighboring Poland though it takes long to walk from Munchen to Warsaw. Anyway, This record sounds plausible. It seems the report to relatives delayed in some reason. Most soldiers listed were killed in 1939. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Wuhan As I introduced in another thread, Yasukuni Shrine invited the relatives of new KIA soldiers to their celemony held once or twice a year. viewtopic.php?f=65&t=158627&start=0 靖国神社祭神遺族鐡道乗車証 is a term ticket for Japan National Railway from Apr 18 to May 3 1940 for Shiro's elder brother Yaichiro (弥一郎, 彌一郎 in old style) to attend to Yasukuni Shrine celemony. Kyoto city tram 3 day free ticket seems for the division's memorial celemony for deads. The last two shots are 軍人遺族記章(KIA soldier's family medal). http://www.ne.jp/asahi/tonekousyou/yuki ... _izoku.htm The document says it should be worn by widow, parents, childs, grandchilds... or the eldest brother or sister. Succession should be recorded and accredited by local government office. The name 彌一郎 appears in the authorized owner's certificate. //Jani

    14. Dear Friends, I have managed to acquire nice lot for soldier of Imperial Japanese Army. KIA November 1940. Among the documents there are details about next-to-kin travelling to 16th Division memorial. I have trying to find out where exactly 16th Division was at the time of his death and it looks like that in Kyoto (?). Some documents though tell that he was KIA in Southern China. I cant tell wheter my translations are correct and I can scan the lot if someone is interested in. With best regards, Jani
