    1. Thanks once again for your help Avsar
    2. Here's another picture for reference - Thanks
    3. I should mention that I thought this was from Abdulhamid II, however I found a list of inventory from the original owner that listed its production date as 1860, which would make it Abdulmecid.
    4. I'm trying to figure out who's Tughra this is on a Silver Ewer that was awarded to an Ottoman Bureaucrat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
    5. Gentleman, I wanted to make sure members of this forum have the opportunity to participate in the auction for a cased set of gold and silver Imtiyaz medals. If you have any questions please ask away either here or on the ebay listing at http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1555.l2649.
    6. Wanted to see if any of you guys can help me identify the 4 berats pictured below. I think 2 of them are Osmonie orders and the other 2 are Medjidie orders but I can't be certain with my poor understanding of Ottoman Script. Any help is greatly appreciated. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2012/post-10420-0-78284200-1347265043.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2012/post-10420-0-03971700-1347265105.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2012/post-10420-0-79121200-1347265117.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2012/post-10420-0-95895400-1347265249.jpg
    7. Okay - I have 2 issues I'd like some help with: 1.) I know it's hard to even find a picture of a 1st Cl Osmonie Order..but, I think I might have one either that or I'm just an idiot. Need direction here. 2.) I also have a few other medals each of which has a Berat. The berats act as the documentation for these awards. Unfortunately, I can't read anything on these (it's not even Turkish, it's something called Davida). If someone could help me by identifying which of the 4 attached berats is meant for this specific Osmonie Order I'd be greatful. I have 3 Order of Osmanie medals in my possession, one of which stands apart from the rest (see picture/album) Notice in the group shots that one has significantly more gold. This is confirmed in the following photos (many photos are attached for further reference): Although nearly the same size the gold Osmonie weighs 61 grams and the silver medal weighed only 53 grams. With each medal facing forward one can see the difference in the 3 rays that fall in between each of the star points. They are bigger and are made of some sort of precious stone or gemstone (need to check with jeweler). The scene depicted on the obverse of each of the Osmonie orders are the 2 drums, although on the gold Osmonie the drums have a different pattern and a higher level of detail is evident in the artwork for that matter. The clasp mechanism attaching the crescent star to the medal is more secure on the gold version as well. The only explanation I can think of for all of these differences is either that the gold Osmonie is the result of a tacky private sale in Italy, or it's of a different class. I should have mentioned also that these aren't counterfeit. The recipient was the Directeur de la Dette Publique Ottomans in the early 1900's (more specifically about 1901).... I have a number of documents (like the berats that I can't translate; family trees with signed affidavits, even insurance coverage documentation for taking the medals accross the Atlantic and many others. So: Informed readers of this forum: please tell me if I'm crazy or not.
    8. The one guy with the docs and the other holding the merchandise trick would have tricked me...scandalous world we live in. Based on the role an established reputation plays with a money back guarantee then I'm gonna need a wall street escrow service if I sell.
    9. Sorry-wanted to get these up earlier but got home late. I've got pics of the 4 berat up there because I couldn't translate which one is for the Imtiyaz (if any eyes can read them out there I'd really appreciate it). I've got some other docs lying around but can't read those either. Thought these would help establish authenticity...feedback is welcome-Thanks. -JK
    10. I'm pretty new to the medals/militaria thing so sorry in advance if these are stupid questions. The few sales comps I found online didn't seem to offer much in the way of proof of authenticity like you would see for a painting at auction where if the provenance is solid price goes up. Does that apply here with medals if at all? Thanks for the help in advance. -JK
