Salutations and greetings!
The MID insignia, as you know, consists of a bronze oak leaf and is worn horizontally on the designated ribbon, with the stalk of the oak leaf farthest from the left shoulder.
The oak leaf is worn on the medal for which mission the member was serving on at the time. In the case of the award being conveyed most recently to one of our officers from The Calgary Highlanders, the oak leaf is placed on the General Campaign Star for Afghanistan.
The General Service Medal and The Special Service Medal do not qualify in the MID category; the Operational Service Medal will be designated by its issued service area
(for example: OSM, Eritrea; OSM, Sudan; OSM, Sierra Leone).
