    1. Still 1972... this one seems very odd. He receives the 1965 Soviet 20 Years of Victory medal!
    2. 1972 still, I wonder what he did to receive an "Honorary Medal" from the Fraternal Socialist State of Mongolia.....
    3. 1972 Boyko receives the Golden Honor Badge of the Fatherland Front. These were the really nasty boys.
    4. 1972, 90 Years Dimitrov's Birth. I do not believe we have seen this document before.
    5. 1969 again, this time an updated photo. Member of Professional Union of Educational & Cultural Workers.
    6. 1966. ID card as representative to the 5th Parliament. He's moving up the line.
    7. 1960 Anti-Fascist Union ID. I don't remember seeing one of these in the plastic cover before... usually just the hard cover.
    8. In 1959, he receives a People's Republic of Bulgaria, First Class. The earliest incidence of this award i have actually seen yet.
    9. Boyko Todorov Nikolchev started slowly but was deeply involved enough to make it onto a number of low-level committees and earn some special priviliges. Enjoy the group. He received his anti-Fascist Struggle Medal in 1950, one of the earliest awards i have seen yet.
    10. Not unusual at all to find a nice, worn EK1 missing the attachment(s). I agree the cross looks legit and someone has substituted the screw-nut... if it even actually turns down! Personally, for all the mint-boxed pieces I have had over the years it's the ones that look like this that really "speak".
    11. Hi Geoff, no, this one has been in and out of my collection twice. Actually just decided to part with it.
    12. My apologies for the delay, here's one of the accepted original SS ribbon bars known:
    13. Thanks!! If anyone has a spare, please PM me. This was one of the few pieces missing from the group I received. More to follow! Thanks much for the help!!
    14. Thus concludes our discussion for the time being. Again, my greatful appreciation to all who have contributed thus far. Please feel free to contact me via PM or to start an open discussion within the forum, with comments, suggestions or any additional information that will help us to all better understand this order. Best Regards, Rick
    15. Late 1980's to end of regime case in plastic, with fitted interior tray and pocket in lid for orders book. Type 2c:
    16. At some point in the late 1940's, the State Mint began utilizing leftover Imperial era cases and heat-stamping in gold on the lids the new regime's orders. Cases are closely akin to pre-ww2 cases in style, material and hardware. There is a scarcer version of these cases for the Type 1 awards that denotes "without swords" on the lid. We can designate cases as Type 2. Several variations are observed over the life of the order from 2a, leftover latched imperial-style case. Next observed (Type 2b) cases are slip cover lids in a deep maroon color, Awards within this type of case are observed late 1960's through the late 1970's. At some point in the late 1970's, a cheap plastic case began to be utilised across the board in Bulgarian awards. No designation on the lids other than the State Seal of Bulgaria. Each case interior held a (somewhat) fitted, flocked tray to hold the order, a ribbon bar and a miniature device. Type 2a:
    17. Award Packaging The Order 9th September 1944 was originally issued in a paper envelope with black printing as can be observed below. Actual dates this type of packet was utilized is still unknown, however only Type 1 Orders (screwbacks) have been found in the packets. Ihe packets have been observed for both Second & Third Classes. A First Class packet has yet to be observed. Over the last few years, a number of mint in the packet orders have emerged from Bulgaria. Despite the exceptional scarceness of the packet; I believe it safe to assume these are unissued old-stock from the State Mint in Sophia. I can show an example of both the Second & Third Class Packets: Type 1:
