    1. So.... how come nobody has picked up on the BRONZE Allgemeine=Ehrenzeichen? How often do you see one of those? How often have you seen one actually mounted????? !!!!!
    2. And as an aside..... the general consensus amongst more advanced collectors is that 99% of the badges floating about the market with this die defect are copies...... Good luck with your collecting, I have a badge for you, it will cost you 10,000,000. USD.......... therefore, it MUST be real! It has a holographic laser etched image of the Red Baron on the back as well as his name engraved. The front has his triplane, not the usual plane.... It was a special jeweler made gift from his Mummy and pried from his still burning corpse by my great, great grandfather Edward Newman, who fought for the Canadians during WW1. Few people realized it was Edward's bullet that actually killed the evil Red Baron.... hence his being given the honor of pillaging from the body. Upon receipt of a 25% deposit, wired to my bank in the Bahamas I will forward you scans of the badge. Upon receipt of the second 25% wired to my bank I will send you scans of the reverse of the badge. Upon receipt of your final payment, I will send you an absolutely worthless, modern-made piece of crap and laugh whilst you brag amongst your friends how you "took me for a ride" on this one. I mean, it was 10 Bajillion-Million dollars...... it MUST be real!
    3. I'm surprised there were only 46 bidders on this item, my experience thus far in this field is that there are several hundred people who routinely purchase absolute crap and then get angry when someone tells them it's a fake. Your uneducated opinion of basing authenticity on the number of bidders/price of the item absolutely astounds me. I wish you the very best of luck in collecting now and in the future.
    4. And again, absolute fantasy. Just because you dug up an ancient post that had not been commented on (other than the case) doesn't make this badge right. They are BOTH wrong.
    5. That very first badge is not a Schaper. it's by a (continuingly unknown), obscure manufacturer who used the same pin shape/design as well as the tiny silver content mark plates affixed to the rear on both navy & army badges. Outstanding. The Navy badge is the very first by this maker I have seen. However, the details do not deceive, it can be none other than the same maker.
    6. There's absolutely no way to determine anything from the tiny image posted. There's been several badges that have appeared over the years with a PLM (and other spurious) engraving(s) to the reverse. I have yet to see a single one that I would consider consistent with any period badge I have owned, inspected or fondled.
    7. I dunno, before even reading the thread I looked at the initial pix and thought "Rothe"... Andreas?
    8. Always been one of my favorites and I will confess that for every bar that satisfaction was found quickly back when I had oodles of these just falling out of the sky into my lap........ ....... I secretly delighted in the ones that kept him perplexed. Why, you ask? (such evilness) Because he is my friend, my bestest of buddies and researching made him HAPPY! (Not so evil after all, eh?) Congratulations Rick, one more scratched off the list!
    9. And his Mom makes awesome cookies & Swedish Yeast Rings (did I just make a nummy noise??)
    10. That's a familiar face.... I think I had an image of this fellow too. Off to the archives....
    11. Yep, that was a sweet bar.... Interesting to see the pre-1915 version from the same guy. But I think very interesting to see this style of bar with the miniature Sax-Coburg-Gothe device!
    12. I know, why make such nice singles but use crappy paper in groups? Devices.... I want more devices!
    13. Still my favorite... mint in the cardboard box from the original retail outlet:
    14. In don't believe this to be a fake. The ribbon folding and stitching is consistent with original bars. NOT with the modern gouvna coming out of Austria and Texas
    15. Spotted at a Bulgarian site.... Honored Employee Badge KDS instead of MVR :speechless1:
