Hello all, I'm new to the forum. I've recently started collecting WWII memorvilia and I recently came across an item in a local pawn shop I needed some help in identifying. I don't have any photos so I'll just have to describe it
it definitely looks like an Iron Cross, perhaps a bit smaller than the actual medal however (I've never actually seen one). It appears to be a medal drop, whereas it has two pins in the back made for going through a jacket, and there are two rings on the bottom where a chain would be connected on either ring. This all seemed like an Iron Cross "device" to me except for the back. It said:
ATANYA G.I.
1/20th Silver Filled
I remember that the first line was in all capitals and I believe that the second line was just first-letter capitalized.
I secured a good deal with the owner of the store, so if this is in fact part of an Iron Cross piece, I definitely want to grab it. Does anyone know what it is?
Thanks!!
