    1. In the spirit of the First World War Centenary, I would like to share my British Officer's Forage cap with the group. The cap is interesting in its own right (especially for a cap collector) but what makes it even more special and rare is the fact that it belonged to an Officer who served in the Royal Flying Corps. A brief overview of the Officer: Captain Tosswill was commissioned into the Worcesters in 1914. He served in France and was wounded at the Battle of Festubert. After recovering from his injuries back in England he was seconded to the RFC in 1916 where he remained until the end of the war.
    2. Fantastic news about the new aircraft carrier. Shame it has taken so long and I still regret the decision to get rid of the Harriers... very bad call...
    3. Very nice helmet and a good carboot pickup. The drawstring doesn't look original or am I wrong? The markings on Mk.IIs are usually near the chinstrap attachents, but where would they be on one of these? Olivier
    4. I know this an old thread but what the hey. The cap style looks different to most RN caps, even the older examples. The chinstrap is incorrect as are the side buttons, so as Odulf suggested I would say the cap was made for a MN Officer, perhaps around the 1920s. Is the sweatband quite narrow? and how deep is the peak? The cap badge and band are hard to date but are probably 1953 to late 1960s. Oli
    5. Looks Austrian to me, although I am no expert in this particular area.
    6. Hi all, Its an officer's beret badge, late ww2 period. Its half the size of the SD cap version and would have had the same black felt backing as the SD cap badge. Its RAF or CW but not RFC. Economy badges also had jewels coloured. Oli www.theocadcollection.com
