Heh, must be funny to check makers marks drunk. Anyway, I know only about three makers using this core - Godet, Meybauer and Roesner. Does anybody know some others?

Here is the reverse with the patent button. The small part of the ribbon under the button is the rest of 40 cm long ribbon. When I purchased this device, it was holding together only on a few threads, and from that 40 cm, more than 10 was already a separate piece. Ribbon is really very old and fragile, so despite gentle handling it is in three pieces now.

I have the similar one. The bow you also showed, is only a half part of the whole device. Second part is cca 40 cm long ribbon, that was sewn at one end to the bow through the patent button. On the other end of the ribbon, there is a second part of the patent button. So I supposse it was worn around neck, while the bow was situated to the front and EK was hanging under it.

I am talking about WAF terminology, I don´t know if there is some other. As I know, they are catalogued as they are produced. 1st core was first, 2nd core was cheaper pendant in the same time (that´s why always seen in alloy) and third core was used during third reich.

PS: I don´t know if you see the photo of obverse, because I don´t, but when I want to edit the post, photo is there.

Nice cross, but sorry, this is 1st core AWS, if you use WAF´s (streptile´s) terminology, of course. Third core looks like this (see photo). And the most rare is 2nd core.

One thing is sure. Silesian Eagle is not genuine to this button. All I want now is to find correct - or plausible - medal/cross to the button and restore it to original beauty. Of course, it is not theme for Silesian Eagle thread anymore.

Suspect the 2 unidentified ribbons are [blue + yellow/red squares] a Romanian 1913 Balkan War medal [Medalia "Avintul Tarii" -- (Medal of the Country's Upsurge)] and [yellow-red-blue-white-black...] a 1906 romanian King Carol I 40 year jubilee medal [Medalia Jubiliara Carol I]. If so, quite an individual assortment!!

You are right, thank you for confirming this. With the help of WAF forum I got these two ribbons identified. I also found out, that there are more white-red ribbons, not only TR Red cross medal. And the only white-red ribbon with swords device, I´ve found, is Austrian Order of Leopold. I also started to be quite sure, that Silesian Eagle is later add-on, possibly made by Steinhauer & Luck, who marked some of their 57 version items (minis) with "O" mark. So, it looks like Eagle is not original to the cross while the ribbons are genuine. The question is, how one man could receive 1906 Carol II. jubilee, 1913 Balkan war medal and then the high order of Rumanian enemy - Austrian Order of Leopold - and everything this on german Godet button used from 1933 to 1945.

I think the fact that EK1 was worn also on frack and civil formal dress - as we see on photos - plays the role as well. Why he´d wanted mini EK1 on chain when he was surely going to wear EK1 on civil dress in its full size.

Beautiful chain. Just two corrections. Chain is postwar. This type of button is Godet´s first postwar button. Iron cross is second class. First class looks like this:

I am not collecting documents, but this one came with nice and original cross. It is quite strange EK award document which doesn´t have date, and awarded person is mentioned only by rank and second name. Looks (or wants to look) like document sent to soldier, who was already POW (note the stamp of censorship office).

Yes, everything is relative.

Yes, historian must say that every medal on the bar is important as it tells the story, but this is design debate, I suppose. And from the design point of view, I agree with those who don´t like Hindy. I would add another - War aid cross - as a non-com bar "destroyer". But everything is relative, as Eini said (he was so strong womanizer, that he could also say "everybody is relative" at the end), and I must admit that things look better on Godet spange - and even better, if it is buttonhole mini.

Another example - Bavarian MVK3 with swords and crown. While I like it as a single piece, it is IMO another spange destroyer. Doesn´t fit in size and thickness to EK2 and to other medals as well and spange looks like it started to rust already.

Just my two eurocents.
