    1. Impressive collection..!

I have 4 such medals and because they are so hard to research I rely on finding a unique name to track on Ancestry. - My latest medal is a George V one to Constable Ormonde Stockwell - he is unique on Ancestry and was born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, UK not far from my home town.

I bought one to Constable Septimus Dixon - sadly this is not a unique name would you believe...so I am trying to narrow dates down to find the exact man.

If you have an idea which force the man served in (Ormonde Stockwell was definitely West Riding Police) you could try contacting the force direct for help.

      Best of luck

    2. Hi all,

my Tamgha-i-Khidmat III (2nd style) arrived today to go with my Tamgha-i-Khidmat III (1st style)

Iy came in a London jewellers box - can anyone tell me if these awards were made in the UK - I thought they would all have been made in Pakistan.

By the way - I just got some ribbon from ebay - There is currently a guy selling from Pakistan ( search "medal pakistan") 99 pence a yard..! He only has a limited stock though so depends what you want..?

    3. Hi Brian and all,

My Tamgha-i-Khidmat III has arrived here is a quick pic - I will take a comparison pic with my 1st version Tamgha-i-Khidmat III later.

Medal was in a London jewellers case but Im not sure if this is original I thought these awards were made in Pakistan - Can anyone enlighten me..?

    4. Great pictures - here are some from my French collection.

      Left to right...

      1. Awarded to Monsieur A. Nicot 1965 from the ministry of work and social security

      2. Awarded to Madame O. Nicot 1965 from the ministry of work and social security

      3. Awarded to Madane O. Nicot 1974 from the ministry of work

Note the change in the reverse from 1965 to 1974 and the change of ministry name.

Can anyone tell me what the thin blue, white and red band attached to the third medal is for..??

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics.

    5. Very interesting information guys, I am interested in the London made Gaunt version of the Leveant medal - I wonder if anyone can answer the following quastions..?

What metal is the Gaunt version made from - or metals..?

Are the medals all "swinging" versions - I have seen one cast in one piece ie with the medal and suspender connected - I wondered if this was a different version or a fake..?

Hope someone can help...Thanks in advance

    6. I have been collecting Pakistani medals for some years and have never seen a so called original Saichen medal with the full claw - do we have proof that this exists..? Has anyone ever seen one..?

Or is the "soldered" fixing the official version..?

Love to see a scan of the new clasp by the way..!

    7. His arm badge appears to be that of the Brigade La Fayette, also named Task Force La Fayette, is a joint unit of the French forces in Afghanistan. It was officially created on 1 November 2009, along with a complete reorganisation of the French military deployment in Afghanistan. It comprises most of the French Army units involved in the ISAF.

The unit was named in honour of Gilbert du Motier de La Fayette. It headquarters is located at Nijrab outpost, near Nijrab, in the Kapisa Province. It is headed by general Jean-Pierre Palasset.

      Organisation

The Brigade La Fayette is responsible for the Surobi district and for the Kapisa Province. It operates under the US 1st Cavalry Division, The Brigade comprises two Joint Tactical Groups, each composed of three infantry companies and their support units:

The Brigade comprises over 2500 personnel, amounting to 75% of the French forces in Afghanistan. Most are based in outpost in Nijrab and Tagab, in Kapisa Province; in Tora in the Surobi district; and at Kabul airport. It also utilises combat outposts in Belda and in Rocco, jointly with the Afghan Army.

    8. Great pictures - I have all these in my own collection of Pakistani medals but I have never see a 40 year medal offered for sale.

I have just bought a Tamgha-i-Khidmat Class III (with the white enamel centre) from ebay at the princley sum of £15. Looking forward to recieving it.
