    1. I'm not so sure. The level of contrast in the decal would be enough to convince me, gold would blend in much more on the original B+W picture IMO. I may be wrong though but just food for thought :)
    2. This picture might be of interest Monsieur, KM guys here clearly wearing Army helmets. I'm a helmet geek so this is a great picture for me, when you see a shipboard grey Heer helmet this is often the answer I suspect (or coast artillery).
    3. Hi again mate, well I have had a couple of opinions back and they are not favorable I'm afraid..... i'm glad to hear you are not too much out of pocket though. Are you a member of war relics forum? Here is the thread; http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/ss-helmet-forum/double-decal-m40-et66-700-703-a-173055/ 'Doug B' on there with the SS avatar has more SS helmets than the LAH and I trust his opinion in this field completely. I'm not sure any SS helmets were painted black at the factory, and black M40's are unheard of from what I know. Then throw 2 decal on an M40 into the mix....... did both lids come from the same source?
    4. I meant to ask is it a black repaint over factory finish, or is black the only paint on the shell? Interior pics and shots of the whole lid would be great if possible. Do you have any more helmets? I've noticed there are not many posted here. Cheers, Andy
    5. Hi Charlie, I have an ET66 #703 in my database which is a Heer helmet, SD. There are a number of SS lids in the #700 area but they are all SD helmets, and none are black. The lot number is pretty high in the range for a DD, ET were the only firm to have consecutive lot numbers so they are more useful than usual with this factory.. I've asked a few chaps I know to take a look, one of the guys has one of the best and most comprehensive SS helmet collections in the world so he will have a valuable opinion. I hope I'm wrong but I don't have a warm feeling with it All the best, Andy
    6. Hi Mervyn, thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't have them in hand yet and these are the only pics I have to go on. I have to admit I would be buying them with a view to sell them on in the future most likely. To clarify the smaller sword with brass fittings is the one that comes with the scabbard, the larger 'Italian' one with the potentially aluminium guard is without scabbard. I presume aluminium is a red flag? I don't know about any markings yet I will contact the seller for more details. During my brief research into these I've found that British court swords are marked with the relevant monarch? EIIR etc. I'm familiar with 'worldwide arms' and their repro weapons, which was my main concern. cheers!
    7. Hi guys, I'm new here and I would like to share one of my helmets with the forum. It is a fairly rare SE 66 M1935 factory finished as per 1940 spec. It has a textured grey factory applied finish, over which there is a green brush applied paint, and a carefully painted around decal. Liner is by Werner Zahn and is dated 1940, reinforced aluminium type with rounded bales, The chinstrap is by G Schiele, Loburg, and dated 1940 also. The decal is the typical SE type and exhibits the common flaking of KM decals when applied to a rough surface without lacquer. Thanks for looking. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_04_2012/post-13768-0-94091900-1335387166.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_04_2012/post-13768-0-75389500-1335387168.jpg
    8. Evening chaps, New member here, though some of you may have seen me around other forums such as WAF, WRF, and GHW. My particular field is German helmets 1916-45, but I often come across other interesting items. Besides my helmets I like bladed weapons in particular. I have seen this sword and would like some feedback if possible. It's being sold as the title reads, but I have no experience with this type of weapon. The scabbard has had a repair towards the tip. I apologise for the pictures, the sword is being sold as a lot with the other, listed as an Italian officers sword. Comments on the second weapon are welcome also, no scabbard with this one. The asked price is £85 for the pair including postage costs. Thanks for your time.
