Fake Goede Kampfwagenabzeichen
elbavaro replied to Robin Lumsden's topic in Germany: Weimar Republic & Deutsche Freikorps
It existed at the least two times. One Person ist Major Volckheim and the unknown Feldwebel in my humble opinion should be Oberschirrmeister Fischer. -

Anders in Bayern: Bayer ist/wird man durch Heirat, durch Einbürgerung oder durch Geburt. Ergo: wer in Bayern geboren wurde, war Bayer. -

Fake Goede Kampfwagenabzeichen
elbavaro replied to Robin Lumsden's topic in Germany: Weimar Republic & Deutsche Freikorps
Number 1 - unknown, but in WW1 definetly an NCO Number 2+3+5 = Volckheim Number 4 ist interesting - unknown former WW1 tanker, but .... an evidence that Volckheim was NOT the only WW1 tanker who also was awarded with the tank assault badge of WW2. Is this picture part of your own collection or "just" from the net? -

Left one is Major Volckheim, second could be Weißmann and right could be Müller (but not 100% sure). -

Fake Goede Kampfwagenabzeichen
elbavaro replied to Robin Lumsden's topic in Germany: Weimar Republic & Deutsche Freikorps
Well ... Sepp Dietrich wore two different types. The "1st type" was a totaly unusual one. By unusual I mean that this badge was more like the one on the original award documents. It seems that he was the only one who wore such a type. Due to that fact my conculsion is: must have been made only for him. Maybe a silver one, made by a jeweler. Anyway ... not part of the dicussion. The "2nd type" is the one shown here in this thread. It seems that he wore this one from the mid or late 1930's on. On all pictures I have seen hiim wearing this one, my conclusion is: it must be a hollow one. The same conclusion I do have on the badge worn by Theodor Larsen and by Hans Steinhardt. For other "tankers" I can not make any statement. -
Fake Goede Kampfwagenabzeichen
elbavaro replied to Robin Lumsden's topic in Germany: Weimar Republic & Deutsche Freikorps
Well .... the "Dietrich Original" ..... I wouldn't trust it! Until today I have never ever seen a picture of an original Kampfwagen-Abzeichen with eye socket worked-out. And I am talking about pictures taken in the era BEFORE 1945 ! And I have seen a lot of them in the last 25 years. It seems to me that worked-out eye socketes are an American speciality to these kind of copies. Beware: I am NOT talking about (original) hollow awards! Because with a hollow award we would have: front: eye sockets worked out, but back: plate NOT worked out. Please take my apologies for my bad English! -
Unknown decoration

Could be Spain. Maybe Falange ..? -
Yes indeed! Thats why I like this Medal Bar. It tells a life story. To young for WW1, but old enough for service in the Freikorps. Then he joined the Police and as a Policeman he seems to be that he was on duty during the Olympic games in 1936 in Berlin. In the late 1930ies a lot of police units were transfered to the Wehrmacht. So then he became a member of ther Army. The Ribbon Bar shows a lot of Freikorps awards.
