The highest paid industrial workers in Mexico during the 50s and 60s were his workers, he often told me, the greatest asset any company has are its workers. He created scholarships to send people to study in France, USA & Canada, he gave no interest loans to his workers' families so they could start small businesses among any other ways he rewarded good, honest work. Ten men like him would make a real difference in any country. One is just a utopian visionaire.
I wasn't quite sure what grade of the Legion D'Honneur he had received, so I sent a request for information to the French embassy in Mexico and they informed me he in fact received; the Grand Cross of the Legion D'Honneur in 1962 from Charles de Gaulle and the Grand Officer of the l'Ordre National du Merite in 1970 from Georges Pompidou. Official Mexico has yet to honor him with even a street name.
I am going to make a display case for his medals (which I need to procure now —I just bought the OYF, but need to get the others), books he wrote and a newspaper he directed in 1939 opposing the fascists governments in Europe and emerging fascism in Mexico then.
Thanks for all the great info.
Best regards
