Pretty awesome thread. Very informative. Just trying to contribute a little bit here, sorry if this is a few month old reply. The solider in the photograph is wearing Republic of China uniform, early Beiyang republic era, not Japanese.

I joined up here because this thread is such a good reference. A quick question, can someone explain why sometimes I see Auspicious Clouds missing the center enamel piece? Cheers!
