Hi Chris This is OBtsMt. Franz Br?ckner (*17.02.1916 Bruchsal) who served on U-380 before. A report of the trials of U-1163 with socalled Schleppbeh?lter written by the former I WO Valentin Probst shows a photo of him too, but here his rank is given as OStrm. Best regards Tiefenmesser -

Hello Vic U-108 showed both symbols at the same time. The shield was painted at both sides of the conning tower, the polar bear at the front. There is only one photo in my collection showing a cap pin. This is a bit unsharp. But it seems that it was the polar bear too, the pin is too big for the shield. Best regards Tiefenmesser -
