    1. Any idea what this one is ?? TK does not look like the usual FW type ............................ more like a white version of the black skull !! ;)
    2. Another photo of the Metz cuff title in wear has surfaced. Only the third I know of. Much clearer than the other two pix. Lack of eagle and swastika on the tunic and cap suggests it dates from post-May 1945. Looks like this was one of the officer candidates at Metz ................ serious wounds in the fighting would have qualified him for the EK2, the wound badge and the Metz cuff title. He would have received all three on account of being badly wounded in the battle. By the time he recovered from his wounds, the war was probably over ..................... hence the de-Nazified uniform worn for his photo.
    3. Nice, Jock. I picked an identical one up from Malcolm Bowers about 20 years ago. I have never seen another one since, apart from yours. Must be a rarity. Well done on finding it.
    4. Paul. The RK is one of Souval's earliest copies .................. based on the Juncker original. Even has the cross-hatching. The later Souval copies were very poor in comparison, with blurred detailing and sometimes even the silver mark on the obverse rim.
    5. It was probably meant to be a bronze-coloured shield .................. like the Krim and Kuban .................. Krim ................... Kuban ......................... Warschau ...................... all BRONZE ??................................
    6. Problem posting pix in the above two posts ....................... ......................... but you get the general idea. Here's the other trial matrix by Scheer, from 1945 ........................ ................. and the contemporary Reichskanzlei paperwork ...................... Balkan and Warsaw prototypes together ..................... both by Scheer, Spring 1945.
    7. So, the Souval copy wasn't a bad attempt !! Old boys' network ! His pal got it first !!
    8. Original trial matrix, by Albin Scheer, Berlin ..................... Original trial matrix from Spring 1945, by Albin Scheer, Berlin ...............................
    9. Short 'Detective's Truncheon' in use ................. from a period publication.
    10. Looks to me like a short British 'Detective's Truncheon' from the Victorian era. Small ................. to keep in the pocket of civilian jackets. No 'baton pockets' in civvy suits !! Think Sherlock Holmes. I had a similar verified short 'Detective's Truncheon' in my old Force Museum. The number is a mystery to me ............... perhaps a later museum reference code addition ???
