He was still a military Baurat in X. Armeekorps, Braunschweig per his Orders Almanac entry, which lists only his year of birth-- 1853. He held the REO4 and 1897 medal. He appears to have died between 1908/09 and 1912.
Rick, sorry to be thick but is REO 4 the above order and what is his rank, long day at work

Based on those pictures I doubt either one is original to the period. The one on the right has the 1957'ish reverse assembly.
