Hi Gordon, you are correct. BWS was 1817..... I was typing from memory and didn't look at my files....... I should have entered 1817. Oh well, I can't remember all of the Betriebsnummern.
Jon M,This chute, the RS 9B/2 was not made by 1816 but by 1817. Here is a picture of the stamp on the chute case.
Cheers,
Gordon

I think I know that seller. He is really helpful and friendly.
BTW: Parachutes in the DDR were manufactured by VEB Bekleidungswerke Seifhennersdorf, [also known as BWS or "Bewes"]. Military Betriebsnummer 1816.

Many Thanks!
Hello jon!It seems like when you put the flare on to the barrel you?re supposed to elevate the rifle
to an angle of 30 to 35 degrees (number 6). That I could make out myself, my Czech connection then
did a rough translation of the rest. Give me a day or two, and I?ll try to post a decent translation.

This is the instruction leaflet that came with some Czechoslovakian 40-mm parachute/rocket-signal flares that I purchased. Can anyone translate them? Especially number 6.
Thanks in advance for any possible help, Jon.

Thanks, Uwe. Could you post a picture of a (random) page within the book?
Hi Jon,both books:
Orden, Preise und Medaillen, 1. edition 1980
and
Orden und Medaillen, 2. edition 1983 (2. verbesserte und erg?nzte Auflage), I found only some changes

About how many pages are in the book?
Jon.
Hi Paul,post 4: "A very nice DDR(1977) published book"
I do not believe that it is published in 1977.
That is the book cover of the second edition 1983.
The first edition is from 1980:

Is this a genuine Feuerwehr Helmet? I am referring to the "abzeichen" on the front of the helmet. FW is not an area that I collect and that is why I am wary. Personally I think that it would have been added on later and is not original.
Any thoughts/comments?

The two most common maker codes that I have come across would be 1850 and 1802. So far I have only identified the latter, 1802, which is VEB Burger Bekleidungswerke in Burg bei Magdeburg. On older uniforms you may see their logo, which includes their initials "BBW." BBW was part of VVB Herrenkonfektion and later became part of VEB Textilkombinat Cottbus or TKC.

I am "strichtarn" on gunboards, and am "jon m." on WAF.

That is pretty much what I was told on another forum: just leave it alone...which is what I intend to do.
Thanks for the comments.

Does it need to be cleaned (ie. old peanut butter or coffeesains) or is it just old and dusty?
Hello Chris. It is just dirty.
