I'll see what I can find for the shaft. About the similarity to African spears, I can say the difference is obvious when in hand. The finishing and the weight are very different. |<ris

Here you go! Some of the French brass helmets I used to own. Picture is print screen of a photo book I am making for my self, of the items I owned for the past years.

I can also contribute with a Belgian set. Saved this set of photographs of being sold separately from the medals at a car booth sale. The guy in the frame, is the same one as on the 19 th century pic's. I would love to have the helmet!!

Garde Civique items are rather rare to find. So great was my satisfaction when I managed to find this bugle. And it is not the end, also found very nice shoulder pieces. All from different sources. cheers |<ris -
