    1. You maybe correct but I like to try. I would like to see all of August Winter's WWI assignments as he may have been in the mountain troops because he was a WWII Gen. der Geb.
    2. I have been trying to put a name to the below bar for many years. The bar has: 1914 EK2 w/1939 Spange, BMV4x, FEK, Tyrol Campaign, TR 12 25 and 12 I believe it goes to a Bayern officer who stayed in between the war. The list below has the officer from Bayern who were in the Reichheer in 1923 and had only and EK and BMV4x. Their 1914 unit is listed. Can anyone tell me if the units were involved in the Tyrol Campaign? Thanks. Name Rang 1923 1914 1924 Orden Bader, Robert Lt. 19. Inf. R. b. 2. IR EK2 BM4mSchw Borst, Otto Lt. 21. Inf. R. b. 5. 3. It is an electronic copy. If he knew the name he would have used it in the file name. Drop Daniel Krause a PM he may recall if he had a name to it.
    4. Since the bar is to an enlisted man it is not possible to name the man at this point. I found this on his computer file and no name.
    5. The ruling was by a court in California which is a very, very liberal state and in San Francisco as well. There are limits to free speech in the US and they should be applied in this case.
    6. When I started collecting medal bars my friend warned be to be care of bars with the hook back as it is so easy to replace medals.
    7. At that price you will most likely be seeing a two-three place bar with a Hindenburg or EK document. A named bar to an officer will like be out of range. Good Luck.
    8. George did make some notes which you can see on the bottom of the above copy.
    9. You may have all you can get on him. The earlier ranklists would not give much more information outside of where he was posted.
    10. I remember seeing it in the auction catalogue and making the ID in a few minutes. I call Rick immediately and he said he recalled it from George's collection. Rick never throw anything out and send me a copy of George's notes.
    11. I realized I never posted this medal bar here so I thought I would as I say good-bye to it. It is off to the SOS for sale. The bar is attributed to Gen der Inf Werner Kienitz, RK holder. It was originally identified by George Seymour and in his collection. Enjoy!
    12. Claudio, Thanks for posting that. I saw it as well. I think he died after his two sons were KIA as U-Boot officers in WWII. This bar will be for sale at the SOS. I contacted the Marine School Archive in Germany to see if I could get a better photo of him.
    13. I did some further research on this bar and the two officers, Küster and Rosenstiel and have come to the conclusion that the bar belong to Rosensteil. Küster was not awarded the 25 year LSC when he was bumped out of the navy at the end of the war. His contemporaries who where commissioned in April, 1896 who stayed in the navy after the war received their 25 LSC in 1923. Küster was out by then and did not receive the award. Rick did not have access to this information and therefore did not make this determination. So my conclusion is the bar belonged to Kapitän z See Rosenstiel.
    14. I received the below info and thought it would be of interest here. Did you have a family member who served with the British Commonwealth during World War I? Look for them in Fold3’s new collection of more than 24,000 WWI Distinguished Conduct Medal citations (via the Naval and Military Press), which is part of our British Commonwealth Military Collection. The Distinguished Conduct Medal was Britain’s second-highest medal for gallantry in action for non-commissioned officers and enlisted men (until it was discontinued in 1993). Recipients of this award came from regiments across the Commonwealth, including Australia, the British West Indies, Canada, India, New Zealand, Newfoundland, Rhodesia, South and East Africa, and the United Kingdom. The collection is organized by country, then regiment. The citations give a brief description of the action the medal is being awarded for, as well as basic information about the recipient.
