I have been trying to put a name to the below bar for many years. The bar has: 1914 EK2 w/1939 Spange, BMV4x, FEK, Tyrol Campaign, TR 12 25 and 12 I believe it goes to a Bayern officer who stayed in between the war. The list below has the officer from Bayern who were in the Reichheer in 1923 and had only and EK and BMV4x. Their 1914 unit is listed. Can anyone tell me if the units were involved in the Tyrol Campaign? Thanks. Name Rang 1923 1914 1924 Orden Bader, Robert Lt. 19. Inf. R. b. 2. IR EK2 BM4mSchw Borst, Otto Lt. 21. Inf. R. b. 5. Life Saving Medals from my home state
Paul C replied to Stogieman's topic in Non Military Collectibles & Antiques
Did you ever research the man and his deed? -
The ruling was by a court in California which is a very, very liberal state and in San Francisco as well. There are limits to free speech in the US and they should be applied in this case.

I did some further research on this bar and the two officers, Küster and Rosenstiel and have come to the conclusion that the bar belong to Rosensteil. Küster was not awarded the 25 year LSC when he was bumped out of the navy at the end of the war. His contemporaries who where commissioned in April, 1896 who stayed in the navy after the war received their 25 LSC in 1923. Küster was out by then and did not receive the award. Rick did not have access to this information and therefore did not make this determination. So my conclusion is the bar belonged to Kapitän z See Rosenstiel.

I received the below info and thought it would be of interest here. Did you have a family member who served with the British Commonwealth during World War I? Look for them in Fold3’s new collection of more than 24,000 WWI Distinguished Conduct Medal citations (via the Naval and Military Press), which is part of our British Commonwealth Military Collection. The Distinguished Conduct Medal was Britain’s second-highest medal for gallantry in action for non-commissioned officers and enlisted men (until it was discontinued in 1993). Recipients of this award came from regiments across the Commonwealth, including Australia, the British West Indies, Canada, India, New Zealand, Newfoundland, Rhodesia, South and East Africa, and the United Kingdom. The collection is organized by country, then regiment. The citations give a brief description of the action the medal is being awarded for, as well as basic information about the recipient.
