I heard that some volunteers are getting the Order for Courage 3rd class, maybe anybody received The Medal For Military Service to Ukraine. There is project of the public organization's award for volunteers "For our freedom and yours" (За нашу і вашу свободу): https://www.ukrinform.ua/rubric-ato/3638528-prezentuvali-nagorodu-dla-inozemciv-aki-zahisaut-ukrainu.html

      First, Thanks for sharing.

I do find this thread very interesting since the conflict is ongoing and so fresh in all of our minds.

Not pertaining to this thread, but since there are experts on the region, have there been any thoughts on the awards from the Russian perspective with the current conflict?

Well, yes. But, if you know what to look for, the illusion falls apart.

I do note that the latest addition to many of the pin-back crosses is a very unconvincing, over-sized Meybauer mark not to mention the Wagner mark on the back of the tank badge is a joke. But, still, these continue to fool less experienced collectors. To make matters worse, these are sold not just by the same seller with multiple accounts, but by other crooks as well, such as Marc Poredda (Porre81, kruemmelmix) who has a fondness for the over-use of chemical aging and somber black backgrounds.

First apologize for triple post, error in my phone.

there are some easier ones that I can pick out like EKs and Baden awards, but some of those Turkish stars, an award that I want to own, some are very hard to decipher.

on another note, we know Imperial German and TR German are heavily faked; we know US airborne WWII is faked, but surprisingly post wwii through even the gwot is being faked for common items. It is just sad.

I found a post- Vietnam era common patch on a period fatigue shirt just the other day.  I laugh at people faking GWOT stuff; especially the Iraqi stuff.

      thanks for your response.

      Admiral Yates Stirling, Jr

Yates Stirling Jr. (April 30, 1872 – January 27, 1948) was a decorated and controversial rear admiral in the United States Navy whose 44-year career spanned from several years before the Spanish–American War to the mid-1930s. He was awarded the Navy Cross and French Legion of Honor for distinguished service during World War I. The elder son of Rear Admiral Yates Stirling, he was an outspoken advocate of American sea power as a strong deterrent to war and to protect and promote international commerce.

Thanks for sharing.  I will have to look him up

    4. I personally have taken a break with serious collecting about three years.  I get something every now and then, but other life priorities like kids needing a car, building a house, and the amount of fakes and dishonest people.  To me it is all about getting a great presentation now.  I just built a special room in my new house just for my collection.  Focusing on getting an old record player old barber chair and some old photos and recruiting posters to make what I have present nice.

the current economic crisis has affected my collecting.  I have some real nice pieces and groupings, but priorities in life have change ms as my kids get older.  If there is something I have to have now I will trade for it

A sargeant of the 3rd South African Infantry Regiment, formed by volunteers from the Transvaal and the then Rhodesia. This Regiment was disbanded in 1918 due to the heavy losses incurred by the South African Infantry Brigade in France.

Do you  own this ensemble still?  If you do please contact me because I know who the wearer of this tunic is.  I have an interest In South African Regiments as well; done an extensive amount of research of them.

sorry for my intrusion on your wonderful collection, but I just came across this
