  1. Hi Torsten ,

Just got the one certificate of a seller on Ebay , asked him if he had anymore - no unfortunatley .

in that case I guess then that there is nothing much else to tell about this cert other than what Uwe said already ... but I would think that she was probably someone's secretary there during that time . Cheers, Torsten.

  2. Yes. The GDR is end but not the ex - citizens and officers.

I will try to made more pictures from veteranbadges in next.

Hi HMF, very interesting thread. Do you know if there is a pin for the OHS Ernst Thaelmann and in particular for Zittau? A few years ago we had a OHS Zittau forum going on the web, but for some reason that is gone now ... we had briefly discussed the possibility of making a pin or sticker, but nothing ever came of it ... maybe someone else has made one? Cheers, Torsten.

  3. I believe this to be the design called a "Jerusalem Cross" ring, associated with the Crusaders. It was found by a friend outside the ruins of a 12th century church in the Balkans which was said to have been a stop-over for Crusaders going back and forth from Europe to the Holy Lands. The church, as well as several villages dating back to pre-Roman times, is located on his family's large farm. I found a ring there myself, but not anything like this one.

    Chuck

Hi Chuck, I would love to own that Jerusalem Ring ... fascinating ... Cheers, Torsten.

  4. If you want one, there are about a dozen 5 miles from me and they are cheap. Lots of Soviet ribbons too.

Hans Biemlers' grandson is the Producer of 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine' as well as other Hollywood projects. He has had some walk ons in other SciFi stuff (notably the New and very good, 'Battlestar Gallactica".

and not surprisingly, he does collect anything with his grandfather's name on it .... well, and his own name ... guess what it is? I have sold him a couple of interesting Hans Beimler memorabilia and he always get first refusal on any new Hans Beimler items I get in ... Cheers, Torsten.

  5. Thanks for the clarification Uwe. After a quick look, I was able to find one or two more of these badges online, but neither were marked on the reverse like this one is. Are these items often faked? I will post an image of the reverse in hopes that it might be possible to determine if it is a fake. I got this item for really cheap, so I wouldn't be surprised to find that it is a copy.

    Sivart

Hi Sivart, as far as I know these NSKOV member badges are not faked. Cheers, Torsten.

  6. thanks! I'de be happy to see one set for a SED congress delegate...

I have never had an SED Parteitag set like this either ... btw, the restaurant where your Mrs Weinert was to be fed during the FDGB congress was the HO Gaststaette Fernsehturm, which is the restaurant at the foot of the TV Tower in Berlin. It is now called Olle Bolle. I had dinner in there about two weeks ago and I can highly recommend to anyone visiting East Berlin. Cheers, Torsten.

PS: I had the Eisbein ....
