    1. Jason,

That is a very nice bayonet.

When I was a teenager, I was given one just like it by a Great Uncle, whose father had rought it back as a souvenir after WW1. Sadly, it was stolen when my parents house was burgled many years ago. I have never understood why the burglars took the stereo, some costume jewelry and a bayonet.

Now that I have stopped actively collecting any TR items and concentrate on the 1914-18 period, a replacement for the one that was stolen is now at the top of my wanted list.

It would display very well mounted on a Gewehr 98.

    2. Talking about non regulation, ... notice anything?

I have seen this a lot on LW members outside of Germany.

I am still trying to find the regulation on when the wear of the national insignia became required on the tunics for LW members outside Germany. I am guessing that these photos are pre 1941.

      Paul,

Photographic evidence would seem to suggest that the Fliegerbluse was frequently worn without the eagle until about 1940. Popular opinion among some collectors I have spoken to would confirm that.

Does anyone have any references for the regulations on wear of the eagle?

    3. The scan below shows two pages from the Milit?rpass of Sergeant Albert Warnke, who was born on 28 May (today), 1892.

He was killed at 3 a.m. on 29 August 1918 by shell splinters to the head while in the limber position of his unit, Fu?artillerie-Bataillon 87, in Lebucquieres north-east of Bapaume. He was buried the same day at the military cemetry in Abencheul-au-Bac, north-west of Cambrai. Today he is buried at the German military cemetry at Neuville-St.Vaast.

The award date of his EK2 is recorded as 30 August 1918, the day after he was buried. He had also been awarded the Hamburger Hanseatenkreuz according to an earlier entry in his Milit?rpass.

Is this a true posthumous award, or just an award deferred due to the time it took to process the paperwork? Are there any similar cases in which the award was not cancelled, but processed to completion after the recipient's death?

    4. Dan,

All of your figures and your modelling skills are highly impressive. In this age of instant gratification, they reflect a rarely seen level of committment to the hobby.

How long does it take to plan and build figures like the ones you have shown on this and other threads?

    5. Unteroffizier Heinrich Schweizer was awarded the EK1 on 26 April 1944 while serving with 2. Kompanie, Panzer-J?ger-Abteilung 302. From the unit designation, it would seem that he was on attachment to or from 2. Kompanie, Fallschirmj?ger-Regiment 11.

At the time of the award, the unit was part of 4. Fallschirmj?ger-Division fighting on the Anzio front after the Allied landings. It would be interesting to find out the details of the award, particularly in view of the fact that the Americans and British had a lot of armour in that theatre.

    6. A very late award to an FJ-Oberfeldwebel who had been fighting with Kampfgruppe Kratzert in the Metz area, where he was wounded in September 1944. His wound badge document is also posted in the relevant thread. The document is signed by Generalmajor Barenthin as commander of the Fallschirmj?ger-Ausbildungs- und Ersatzdivision.

This is the list of engagements which resulted in the award.

    7. Hi all! I know about the various grades and manner of wear og the Long Service Medals/Crosses of the 3rd Reich period. I was wondering if any of you can tell me about the awards of Prussia (and other states) Grades, how worn, etc? Maybe some pics if you don't mind.

Thanks so much and God Bless!!!!!

    8. Exactly! Thank you so much for your help David, it is great picture!! could be posible to know the measurements of the device??

      cordial greetings,

      Humberto

      Humberto,

Sorry, but most of my collection is packed away ready for a move. I did the scan some time ago. When my collection sees the light of day again (probably in January), I'll get the measurements for you.

Rick (Research) has a similar example and can probably give you some dimensions.
