    4. Dear David , You are welcome . Yes, as you mentioned , that mark on the reverse is Turkish Mint Mark , and it means that this is a Turkish made one . After 1900s the mint mark still exists but it changed the size and became more smaller in diameter . Best Wishes , Avsar Ibar
    5. For information to whom it may interest ; for the later minted medals such as Big Imtiyaz , Liyakat , Donanma-İ iane , Greek War and etc.. The weight examination is OK but for the older minted Ottoman medals , it is not a way to check originality as many of the originals ( even same medal ) has different measurements . Best Wishes , Avsar
    6. Hello , It is an ORIGINAL BB.CO . I am sure it will be a nice piece in your collection. Best Wishes , Avsar
    7. Hello , To determine the exact date is impossible. But What I can say is this one which you attached the images is the one which was made after the Crimean war period. ( WHAT I MEAN IS , IN CHRONICLE ORDER , THIS ONE IS MADE AFTER THE CRIMEAN TYPE MEDJIDIES ! ) It is earlier then 1900 , later then 1860 . It is NOT the ones in and after 1900s . Hope it helps , AVSAR IBAR
    8. Hello , Medal is original and in good condition. But the Silver suspension and the ribbon is new and later attachment. Best Wishes , Avsar
    9. Dear S , In the period made original ones , scimitars did NOT connected in any kind of ring . They are becoming thinner in inside but passing like " X " from inside . It is not very very hard to understand if they are connected to a ring , You can see / feel it by looking to the scimitar holes which were opened by a jeweller saw . They never connected to a ring , they are crosswise passing thorough inside . Best Wishes , Avsar Ibar
    10. And below is the picture of the one which we compare with the above 2 examples ... Please check the left saber grip , the weirdness is more visible in that one...
    11. There are a few kind of Original period Sword types , Below you can see 2 GOOD Examples ; 1 - From former ANS Collection . ( Thanks to My dear friend Mr.Paul Wood for this picture ) 2 - From My own collection . Hope those 2 pictures will give you an idea how it must be ... Best wishes to all ,
    12. I know the Gentleman whom sold it on ebay. He has a very good , beautiful and big Ottoman Empire collection. He is a valuable collectioner. On the other hand for that order ; Very hard to say before examine it in hands but i am not too far from your opinion ... ( It mustn't be that much cast feeling on the swords , also a little strange form of sabers ... ) Box of the order is not original as he mentioned on his auction page ... Happy New Year to everyone ...
    13. Dear Jens , There is no combination " As you call AMALGAM " of Medjidie orders with Osmanie orders . All of those examples exist the reason is during the years , their own cresent & star lost because of an external factor or whatever ... And recipient or the owner during the mentioned time changed it's up with a similar one as he found an Osmanie Order's one... This order can not be awarded in this position . There is no such example in literature exist in this condition . The one in Liverpool medals is also a later intervation to compensate the lost , even i can see that it's neck ribbon is new ... Best , Avsar IBAR
    14. Dear Jens , Yes , i checked them , it looks like a 4th Class Medjidie . The cresent and the star did not belong to him , they are from a 4th Class Order of Osmanie . ( Not Medjidie ) . Small Tip : On the Osmanie Orders , Cresent and The Star faces - looks to the up without enamel . On the Medjidie Orders they look to the right with red enamel on them ... Best wishes for the New Year , Avsar Ibar
    15. Dear Westdiep , Unfortunately i can nit see the pictures. Can you post them here again ? Best , Avsar

    20. Hello , 1 - I can not see a Grand Cross Order of Osmanie there. 2 - Looks like you have A second Class Set with Breast Star , a Single 2nd Class Cross , and a 3rd Class Cross. 3 - The Osmanie order which you called "Gold Osmanie" is a Luxury type 2nd Class Foreign made. 4 - Probably you have inside that envelopes , the "Berats" ( Award Certificates ) , but what you showed are the envelopes of the "Berats" only ... 5 - Also i can not see clearly but looks like you have there 2 Medjidie and 2 Osmanie Certificate Envelopes . Best Wishes , Avsar IBAR
    21. Hello Dean , I will do my best to help you regarding the Ottoman Orders . Best Wishes , Avsar
    22. Dear Dean , Sorry for my late reply , i was in London , just turned back to Istanbul . About your bar ; Honestly, first i was thinking that you need a Jubilee Medal (1905) or a Prince R. Luitpold medal there but , ! ! ! !!!! after i concentrate to your cute bar a little more , i think you need a later period Medjidie Order there. Hope it helps , Avsar IBAR
    23. Dear Dean , Crimean war started in October 1853 and finished in Feb 1856 . Crimean Type Medjidie orders made and awarded during Crimean era . But your bar is from WW1 . There for it doesnt have a place in that bar . There are some examples of German Bars with Medjidie and Osmanie orders from WW1 period but thoose Medjidies are not Crimean Type . And Dear Lambert, Yes you are right if you compare with the Ottoman Made ones , Crimean types have bigger center . Also Ottoman Mint Made ones are Diamond Cut ( Silver Parts ) but Crimean type Medjidie's silver parts are different , how can i explain , let me say they are like herringbone style .. ( ? ) . For all Medjidie orders , only the 5th class has Silver Center Tughra . Cheers , Avsar
