    1. Thanks for the update This is an illustration of my dilemma i.e. not having enough reference material for a definite identification. Nimmergut's book has one alleged "Kommandeurkreuz (mit starrer Krone ((fixed))" with this odd oval shaped "öse" and void of the ribbon loop (seemingly the same features as on mine). He also shows a "Kommandeurkreuz (mit beweglicher Krone ((mobile)) with a round "öse and ribbed loop. There are no illustrations of any of the two Knight Cross types in Nimmergut's book "Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen 1800-1945". Any other sources for illustrations I might look for?
    2. The Medal of the Sword (instituted 1850) came in silver and one size only (30mm). The criterias for the Medal was 16 years of service and the same for the Sign of the Sword (including 6 years as an NCO). Kim, do you have any illustration of the hinged version? Can't recall having seen one.
    3. Graf, the Knight 2nd class in silver was instituted 1889 and awarded to foreigners only, see attached image (Sign of the Sword for comparison). As a sidenote, a 1st class cross awarded to a foreigner was gilded silver rather than gold from 1926.
    4. Thanks for the feedback. I believe it's enamel-paint or enamel, either way they didn't find the matching nuance.
    5. Hi Jeff, The cross posted by Graf is for a Knight (Riddare 1.klass) and was worn on the chest. The 2.klass comes in silver with white enamel contrary to the 1.klass in gold. The Sign of the Sword (Svärdstecken) is in silver with only blue enamel in the centre. The Sign of the sword is also found without swords. There is also the Medal of the sword. The cross posted by you is a Commander (Kommendör) and in conjunction with the breast star Kommendör 1.klass. Commander with Grandcross wore the same sized neck-cross in a sash and the breast star with gold crowns between the cross arms. I hope this will help you out.
    6. Yet another 2nd class Knight with some enamel repairs. Gents, the multiple versions of this decoration requiers some help from you guys. Can you please help me out with the timeframe for this specific decoration and also what would be the correct number (2nd, 3rd etc.)? Any help would greatly appreciated.
    7. Paul, it's my understanding that accumulation time was rendered only for active military service.
    8. The SS DA was awarded only to members of the SS-Verfügungstruppen, SS-Totenkopfverbände and SS-Junkerschulen.
    9. With Sweden's long absence from war, I'm glad I can show you guys these two commentorative pieces from the campaign i Germany 1813. The "coin" represents the Swedish Crownprince Bernadotte, who in 1818 became King Karl XIV Johan.
    10. Two more Iron Crown miniatures. I assume the single-sided is gilded silver?
    11. Thanks Lars, your comments are well worth to ponder over. The enamel isn't "dirty", but has what appears to be tiny holes. The bottom arm is effected the most, but strangely enough the reverse isn't as effected. Nick, I see what you mean! The border around the cross is nicely gilded, but the rest looks "cheapish". The pin is also longer and thinner and the plate is unmarked non-ferrous steel-coloured metal.
    12. To all posters in this thread, thanks for sharing these beautiful minis Trying to compete here is no option, these two are my only contribution. A 2nd opinion on the Anna would be greatly appreciated.
    13. Thanks, I had kind of figured that out The round center is still confusing though and I haven't seen any illustrations of it. I always believed this to be a Grosskreuz due to the golden reverse, rather than the enamelled type found on the 1st class.
    14. This piece didn't get any comments when I posted it, perhaps due to the round center, rather than an oval shaped?
    15. Thanks Beau. I remember when they were advertised, but €1000 for the set wasn't really an option for me. Any hint to a German reference online is also appreciated. The enlosed link leaves a lot of room for speculation. http://www.frankhummel.de/orden/bayern2.html
    16. Nice! I've searched the internet for comprehensive information regarding the various models of this exquisite decoration, but still haven't found what I'm looking for. The Nimmergut catalogue is difficult decipher. Any suggestions?
    17. Thanks Paul, another source to persue. Kvart, I searched for the Norwegian "Statskalender", but apparently both the book- and online version were terminated due to poor finances. Still I think I can solve this by comparing the Swedish version and search for awardees of the Northstar.
    18. Excellent! Thank you VERY much for taking the time and go through those calenders. I'll of course let you know, should I be able to find the recipient
    19. Another button with DEP, different cross though. Also an unmarked with a 3-piece EK for non-combatants.
    20. Not really if you view it from right to left. Here's a German chain to illustrate this fashion.
    21. Herueka! I have a minor colour sight deficience, hence I failed to notice the obvious. It is indeed a gold stripe. Thanks buddy
    22. Thanks guys. I'll give the library a chance.
