Andrei : They were Infantry regiments .One the 2nd was a Imperial and Royal Infantry regiment of Hungarian ethnicity and uniform .the other two were Royal Hungarian Infantry regiments . all of them regular standing units . not second line troops .excuse me a mistake the regiment with the 3rd bataillon in fogaras was the 23 rd and not the 21th .You wants to know about the participation of these units in ww1, well its not easy . much of the history of the Austro Hungarian units during the ww1 was lost in the aftermath of the dissolution of the Empire .some regiments have their history recorded ,most no .one form of search is the study of the campaigns beggining with the Serbian . probably due to the fact that four Royal Hungarian Divisions took part in the attack against Serbia the two R H regiments fought in Serbia .The other alternative was the Galician front . against Russia . Finally in 1916 when Romania invaded Transylvania surely these Regiments fought against the Romanians .

Egork.a : There were three types of star , bronze ,silver and gilded silver .the bronze for citations at regimental and brigade level . the silver for divisional level and the gilded silver for Army corps . the bronze palm was for Army citation and the silver palm for 5 citations at Army level . Gardes was citated at the order of the direction of the Medical service of the 10 th Army Corps .in that case corresponded a gilded star but not a palm .

Hello Farkas : The german cursive is not my favorite but what i can understand is name and adress of the postcard destinatary a Herrn Wihelm Kasten , Frankenstrasse 5 Hamburg . The remitent is a nephew of herrFranke and writes the postcard in Greiffenberg . the date is April of 1915 . the remitent one Walter R is very suscint .perhaps some with better knowledge of the old handwriting could obtain another data .

The Prussian : Austin chasis ,yes . but not Austin type armoured body . Apart ,the hull is undoubtly of Russian manufacture ,perhaps the car supplied to the Romanians was a single unit model .

Andrei . The Brasso ,Brassov , Kronstadt city was garrison of the Royal hungarian Honved Infantry Regiment 24 .whose recruits were of the surrounding country .But the 2nd imperial and Royal Hungarian Infantry Regiment was also garrisoned in Brasso ,Brasso Kronstadt. and recruited in the same area . In 1914 the ethnicity of the regiment was 61 % Hungarians , 27 % Romanians and 12 % others.Another Royal Hungarian Infantry Regiment garrisoned in Transylvania ,Ardeal ,Siebenburgen , was the number 21 . whose 3rd Bataillon was stationed in Fagaras ,Fogarasch .

Morar Andrei : To me its is not an Austin . yes i know its registered that the Romanian Army used one Austin 3rd series . but the body of the car pictured is not common .
The 3rd series Austin were twin turreted. all the Austin Putilovs too . the car pictured shows one turret and centrally placed .

Hello : the man pictured wears the uniform of the Austro Hungarian Army used prior to 1908 for the field .for Infantry . Pike grey coloured cap , dark blue tunic . and not shown in the pic ,Pike grey coloured trousers .the two stars on his collar marked him as a Korporal .he is not an officer . his tunic with shoulder straps is for Rank and file . Being originary of Transilvannia ,probably he belonged to an Royal Hungarian or a Imperial and Royal Regiment .(hungarian ) Do you know of which town or city they belonged?

The man in the photo wears a officer type jacket but carries a rifle and bayonet .and the percussion carbine , dont matches much with the bayonet .other strange item is the turban ,dark coloured . enfin , it appears to be a studied exotic portrait .

Alex K : I discovered your posts just yesterday . Its a great Job , very well done . but could be better ,not technically but in accuracy . one example : Max Immelmann was officer of a Technical branch so he weared the uniform of that . In field grey , black piping on collar and cuffs , kronenknopfe in matt silver grey , and silver litzen over black patches piped red on the collar . The capband was black piped in red and red was the upper piping of the crown of the cap . If you need some assistence regarding uniform details . ask freely .

Alex,
You hit the nail on the head, with the US General's photo. Your talent is amazing!
Here is the photo I was telling you about. Can you make this one come to life?
Paul
This one is a musician .keep in mind that .because Musikmeisters ,Obermusikmeisters and Stabsmusikmeisters carried special shoulderboards . and collar patches . the colour of the patches was according with that of the unit to which belongs the Kapelle .Yellow for Air , red for Flak ,white for Hermann Goering , black for the RLM and so on

Or, you could just let your imagination guide you and draw your own from scratch.
A Georgian friend gave me a large collection of his sketches. I'm in the process of scanning them onto a website. That is a giant PITA, in case anyone is wondering. The results are satisfying, though.
So, anyone recognize this guy? The guy in the sketch, not the Georgian.
