    1. Thank you Demir. That is the conversion from the Hijri calendar to the Gregorian calendar, correct? But wasn't the Ottoman Empire using the Rumi calendar, which was realigned to the Gregorian calendar in February 1917? Or were the award documents still issued using the Hijri calendar? Because this date correspond to 24 August 1917 in the Rumi calendar, if the converter I used is correct.
    2. Hello, Could someone please help me convert an Islamic calendar award date? German Naval officer Adolf Pfeiffer was awarded the Ottoman Order of Osmaniye 3rd Class with Sabers on 24 Sha'ban 1333. Which date was this in the Gregorian calendar? Thanks!
    3. Konteradmiral (Ing.) Max Peters, Arsenal-Commandant of the Kriegsmarine-Arsenal Gotenhafen (10 January 1944-28 March 1945).
    4. Johan, could you please double check if Vizeadmiral Heinz Nordmann was awarded the Finnish Order of the Cross of Liberty 1st Class with Swords on 15 April 1944? Because his Personalakte states he received it on 12 April 1944. Thanks!
    5. Vizeadmiral Werner Löwisch (far right in the 1st and in the middle in the 2nd photo), Commander of the German Naval Command Italy (17 July 1944-31 December 1944), visiting the Kriegsmarine Arsenal in Venice, Italy, summer 1944.
    6. Kapitän zur See Wilhelm Matthies, Commander of the 1st Naval-Flak-Regiment (04 January 1940-30 April 1942), wearing the field grey Naval Artillery uniform, photographed in 1940. A U-boat veteran from WW1, he was promoted to Konteradmiral on 01 February 1943 and on 29 February 1944 he was awarded the German Cross in Gold.
    7. Great! Thank you very much! 10 October 1937 is the Chinese award date and 18 November 1937 is the German approval date.
    8. The text in the bottom two rows says in German: "Chinesischer Jade-Orden am weißen Hals-band mit blau-rotem Kante" (Chinese Jade Order on a white neck ribbon with blue-red edge). He did not serve in China. I don't have the number for the awarded medal.
    9. Portrait of Vizeadmiral Leo Kreisch (1895-1977). His career during WW2: -1st Admiral-Staff-Officer with the Staff of the Naval-Station of the Baltic Sea (29 September 1937-30 September 1939) -At the same time, Acting-Chief of Staff of the Naval-Station of the Baltic Sea (21 June 1939-12 July 1939) -Chief of the Military Department of the Office-Group U-boat-Affairs, Naval-Warfare-Command, OKM (01 October 1939-07 August 1940) -Commandant of the Light Cruiser „Nürnberg“ (08 August 1940-25 March 1941) -Commandant of the Heavy Cruiser „Lützow“ (28 March 1941-03 July 1941) -Chief of the Naval-Instruction-Command Romania (04 July 1941-17 November 1941) -Acting-Commandant of the Heavy Cruiser „Lützow“ (18 November 1941-26 January 1942) -Leader of U-boats Italy (27 January 1942-12 August 1943) -Leader of U-boats Mediterranean (13 August 1943-25 January 1944) -Leader of Destroyers and also Sea-Commander in the Area of the Danish Islands then of Swinemünde (26 January 1944-29 May 1945)
    10. I have this document where the award is listed at the bottom. The officer who was awarded the order was Walter Georg Lohmann. It's possible the date written here is the German approval date, rather than the Chinese award date.
    11. Thank you very much! So, would the 5th class normally be awarded to someone with Colonel or Captain (Navy) rank? Because the person that I have received it on 18 November 1937 when he was a Captain (Navy), one rank lower than Rear Admiral.
    12. Thank you No one. I don't have a photo of the award. Just the name with the colours of the ribbon like I wrote above. Do you have the photos of all 9 classes of the Order of Brilliant Jade with the ribbons visible? I only saw the photo of all 9 classes zoomed in on the centre of the medal on the thread you linked.
    13. Hello, I pressume the Order of Brilliant Jade also had 9 classes. Can anyone tell me which class would the "Order of the Jade on the white neck-ribbon with blue-red ribbon" be? Thanks!
    14. Hello, Does anyone have any info on any foreign awards for Lamprecht? On the photo below, 3 presumably foreign ribbons can be seen in the second row of his ribbon bar. The first two have a rosette. The last (3rd) ribbon is confirmed to be the Grand Officer's Cross of the Royal Order of the Crown of Italy. Could the 1st ribbon in the second row be the Chilean Order of Merit, Commander class? Could the 2nd ribbon in the second row be the Hungarian Order of Merit, Commander class? Thanks

    20. Thank you very much! Well, since you don't have the access to the award dates, you can use the date from the document I posted (January 1919).
    21. Yes, that's him. Surely a few officers I need help with won't spoil the whole book? Please tell me which class he was awarded. And if it was with Swords or not?
    22. Hello Johan, Can you find any information about the Finnish Order of the Cross of Liberty for Friedrich Wilhelm Kurze? According to his Personalakte (see the photo below), he was awarded the Finnish Order of the Cross of Liberty and the Finnish Commemorative Medal of the „War of Liberation“ in January 1919. I would be interested in the exact class of the Cross of Liberty and the exact award date, if you have it. Thanks!
    23. Studio portrait of Konteradmiral Heinrich Ancker, taken when he was the Arsenal-Commandant of the Kriegsmarine-Arsenal Kiel (26 September 1936-29 November 1937). He was the only Kriegsmarine admiral to be awarded the American Silver Lifesaving Medal. The ribbon of this medal is visible in the last place on his ribbon bar. He was awarded the American Silver Lifesaving Medal on 14 April 1908, for a deed he performed while serving on board the Training-Ship „Stein“ (01 April 1906-31 March 1907). An article in the San Francisco Call (Volume 112, Number 114) from 22 September 1912 gives the interesting story of how Ancker came to be awarded this medal: „Five years ago [in 1907] Lieutenant [his actual rank at the time was Seekadett] Heinrich Ancker of the Imperial Germany Navy dived overboard, fully dressed, from a German Training Ship at anchor off New Orleans, Louisiana, and rescued a sailor who had missed his footing in climbing along the bowsprit. The struggle for life was a desperate one, for the water was cold and the current strong. But finally the Lieutenant [Seekadett] succeeded in towing the sailor back to the ship. He received the United States Life Saving Medal and also a German Medal of Honor [the medal in question was the Prussian Lifesaving Medal which Ancker received on 4 May 1907] for this brave deed“.
