    2. Studio portrait of Konteradmiral Ludwig Stummel. He served as the Chief of the Department for Naval Intelligence, Naval Warfare Command, OKM (28 December 1939-15 June 1941), Chief of the Central-Department of the Office-Group for Naval Intelligence, Naval Warfare Command, OKM (16 June 1941-30 April 1943), Chief of the Office-Group for Naval Intelligence, Naval Warfare Command, OKM (01 May 1943-16 August 1944) and then Higher Commander of Naval Signals and Detection Schools (14 November 1944-15 March 1945). Stummel was most notable for being the person responsible for the cryptographical security of the Enigma cipher machine and Key M infrastructure security, during World War II.
      Some interesting facts about him. He had a glass eye and a limp. He was a fervent Catholic. His faith gave him a moral compass during the latter years of the war. Initially a supporter of the Nazis, he became doubtful as the war progressed.
