Who says you cannot respond ... ?
Ah, oh, I didn't know about that...

"shortly after auction closing it was BAD"
Moral of the story is: always ask FIRST.
I never look at eBay.
Well, he gave me neg feedback at the very last moment so I couldn't respond. I didn't see it coming either as he didn't seem to be upset when I informed him of the bar being bad. I stated that I wanted to save us both trouble by not buying it and then returning it.
Well, like you said Rick. Its better to have a negative than a bad bar, especially at that price.

When I reach some of you guys age...
Wow, I didn't know I was advanced in age.

This WOULD be a great bar ...
I bought it last time. HHO device bad and Rick L informed me shortly after auction closing it was BAD

Who are those gentlemen? I presume at the middle Falkenhayn.
I also presume The Turkish officer as
a- Yakup Şevki Pasha (General of the Army Subaşı) commander of 15th Turkish AC at Galicia
b- Lt. Col. Yasin Hilmi (commander of 20th Turkish Div.)
Mackenson is left center. The other general I'm not 100% sure. Many Turkish and Austrian officer. Many are Generals Staff officers. I guess the rest would be attached to the staff.
Who can name them all?

What the heck is wrong with being bald!

Holly Cow....that medal bar would be the collectors dream !!!!!
That is one of the nicest order bars I've ever seen.
Does anyone know more of this man's military career?

Here's a Knight's Templar watch fob that I found an image of on the internet. I love it and saved this because its similar to mine except mine doesn't have a skull but instead has a knight's helmet.
I'm a big fan of skull and crossbones

I have a few items of mine. I've never taken photos so I can't post them now. If interest is present I can take pics. I'm a member of Albert Pike Lodge 714 as well as a member of the Scottish and York Rite. I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't been active for some time but I have two young boys so I don't get out much.

That is a most extremely, wondrously BIZARRE way of mounting a tiny device on what looks like part of a chopped off human tongue ahead of all "real" looking awards.
No offense intended but that looks ridiculous. I wouldn't wear if even if its an honor. Someone needs to change it to a real medal or do away with its wear.

I've seen the Saxon War Effort Cross on many order bars and a few ribbon bars. What's odd is that several I've seen are apparently groups that were for a man who served at the front or at least received awards with swords. What was the criteria for this award?
Heiko-- I agree completely about the strangeness of the WW1 combination (there is no stranger award than the Saxon War Effort Cross, anyway) but there is nothing wrong with the construction or mounting precedence.
As for lack of long service awards--
millions and millions all dressed up in very newly acquired short brown shirts. :roll eyes:

Ah Charles,
If only I could find a beautiful german officer uniform. H?las, triple h?las. The price for uniforms are very high.
Regards
Christophe
Yes, I can't afford them like i used to once upon a time. I'm now wondering if I can even afford to buy ribbon bars
I traded away some wonderful tunics and visors, both Imperial and Turd Reich. Too bad I didn't know you then.

Today I got one small ribbon bar.
Please take a look and any info would be great!
Is it Lipper-Detailed NCO who got it? As I understand the second ribbon is War Merit Cross but what is the third one? Honor Cross or Military Merit Medal? Also the last one I think is Hamburg Cross, please confirm my thoughts.
As the illustrious Rick would say "show us the back"

Nice... I like those. Do you have the visor cap and tunic for that?

ccj,
I live by the see (northsee) and it whas the playground for the german navy
during WWI and WWII.As for my interrest in mines,i work with them on a daily base.
vince
Vince,
Sounds like you have an interesting career. Do you often collect navy items? Imperial and 3rd Reich Navy are areas I've always had interest but I'v never ventured into.

I've never SEEN a NAVAL Stahlhelm member before!
If only there was a NAME on back!
He is wearing the cap worn by all ranks from F?hnrich to Grossadmiral, but as you say--no naval rank insignia at all. That would make me wonder whether he was indeed an ex-officer, or just wearing the cap insignia of one. Yet an EK1 for enlisted ranks in the navy would be quite quite unusual-- except for Uboat crews and former airship personnel.
Because he is not wearing ANY other awards, there is no hope of identifying what he had been with no name.
Beautiful shot of the visor cap insignia.

Gentlemen,
So far I have been unable to trace anything about my Grandfather, Dr.Ing Carl Meyer who died in 1933, participated in WWI (I still have his EK and 3more medals) and according to my father served in the Gardegrenadierregiment zu Fuss No 5. Could anyone help me further.
Thank you very much indeed.
Sorry that I can't help but I'm sure someone here will be able to offer information. I'd like to see photos of your grandfather and pics of his medals. If you don't mind...

Christophe,
Can you show us the reverse?

Thanks for the picture Rick!
This is my collection area (mines) and the men who worked with them.
Vince
Wow, I've never seen that insignia. Actually, navy insignia and photos are uncommon in my years of collecting. I don't see much Navy militaria.

Hi Charles,
I think so because the regulation about the Turkish War medal : to be wore on the right side of the uniform. I remember one photo of Immelmann wearing his TWM just under his ribbon bar (see in O'Connor tome 3). The regulation is one thing. The officer can do a little like they want, remember they were officers.
