    1. Hi Graf, how can a cross made after 1924 be an original? The award period was from 1914 to 1924. Uwe
    2. Why new glasses? See page 9, "Heer und Luftwaffe Dienstgradabzeichen Offiziere" In my brochure I can see silver rank pips for Leutnant up to Oberst. Here are the first rank insignias (Major): Uwe
    3. Hi Steve, the brochure is from 1956, see the date 1.2.1956. But it is later, because the rank insignias for officers changed from the "altgoldenen" pips to the "chromfarbenen" pips in July 1956. And I think it is the first edition with the title ...der deutschen Streitkräfte. On the later edition you can find ...der deutschen Bundeswehr. Uwe
    4. Gordon, that was Michael. Uwe
    5. Hi Tom, I can see the clear difference in all your pictures. I don't have a Luftwaffen gala jacket, therefore I can only compare a Heer gala jacket with a normal Luftwaffen jacket. The left picture was taken with flash, the right picture is without flashlight: Uwe
    6. Hi, "The gala jackets of Heer and LW are the same." ??? ZDv 37/10 Ausgabe 1996/2008/2010 V. Gesellschaftsanzug 261. Grundform Heer: Jackett, schwarz Luftwaffe: Jackett, dunkelblau It is the same for the Smokingjackett. It seems to me, that we have here a mixture of a Luftwaffen jacket (dark blue) and Heeres shoulder boards (black): Uwe
    7. Hi Peter, "... but there was a stick-pin for females (RJA for girls under the age of 18)" http://www.kpemig.de...n-1-x-Maedchen- Uwe
    8. DDR championship 1952, Pentathlon women, German (DDR) champion, Erika Junghanns
    9. It is only for the three different school years: 8th school year > I 9th school year > II 10th school year > III
    10. Hi Jonas, yes, they are private bought, everybody could wear them. And you can often find officers and generals with the simple unit patch on their daily used jackets. Uwe
    11. Hi, it is the "Hans-Beimler-Abzeichen der FDJ", used between 1967 and 1978. This is for the 8th school year. Uwe
    12. Hi, Silvery (striped) border - division White border - 1st brigade of the division Red border - 2nd brigade of the division Yellow border - 3rd brigade of the division German text "silberfarbene Umrandung" > silvery border white-red-yellow is in German weiß-rot-gelb, to remember for us with the mnemonic command (Merkwort) wir rauchen gerne Uwe
    13. DDR championship 1951 in skittles, women, 3rd place
    14. Hi James, with the law from 1957 (Ordensgesetz) it had been described, what decorations (Orden und Ehrenzeichen) Germans could wear, and how they should wear them. Included were listings, what could be worn of the decorations of the Third Reich era, and what was forbidden to wear from this time period (e.g. all the party decorations). In § 6 we can find a definition, how several Third Reich era decorations must be worn: in a new design without Nazi symbols. In 1958 the ministry of the interior edited a regulation, where the decorations in the new design are listed with pictures: http://ordensmuseum....16Jan0857er.pdf It is national and international consensus, to name these decorations 1957er Ausführungen and 1957er versions (short: 57er). It is normal, to have on direct post 1958 made mini chains a mixture of 57er versions and new made minis of federal, imperial and foreign decorations. If there is only one 57er, it is usual, to call this chain a 57er chain. You must be aware of not original decorations everytime and everywhere! Uwe
    15. Hi Douglas, "Wehrmann" was the lowest rank in the "Landwehr". See also the document for the wound badge: "Wehrmann der Landwehr II. Aufgebot" He served from 1896 - 1898 as Garde-Füsilier (see the first page). After this time he changed to the Reserve (see page 2 in the Wehrpass, Entlassung:). 1904 he joined the Landwehr 1. Aufgebot (see page 7, now the rank is Wehrmann). 1909 he joined the Landwehr 2. Aufgebot (see page 7). He never had a higher rank (see page 2, no entry in "Beförderungen") Uwe
    16. It is the complete medal, but not in my collection. There are both medals, silver and gold, in the original case for both medals together. Uwe
    17. Freikorps, collar patch of the "Deutsche Schutzdivision" Uwe
    18. This is an original, 37.5mm, 24.2g Uwe
    19. "Faithful Service Cross 1. class 50 years" No! Correct is: Faithful Service Cross 2. class 25 years 1938 / Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen 25 Jahre Faithful Service Cross 1. class 40 years 1938 / Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen 40 Jahre Faithful Service Cross special class 50 years 1938 / Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen Sonderstufe 50 Jahre One man could not have all the three crosses, we must separate the "Sonderstufe". Uwe
    20. "57ers" There is nothing to combine with 57ers and cuff titles. There is a German law from 1957 ("Ordensgesetz"), and there are additional official documents from 1957 and 1958. All these decorations in the "Beilage" are 57ers (plus the lifesaving medal): http://www.ordensmus...16Jan0857er.pdf Here you can find only decorations in an official changed design, compared with the originals. On cuff titles nothing had to be changed, therefore a cuff title could never be a 57er. Made post May 1945 it could not be an original, it could only be a copy or a fake. Uwe Ps: here in this forum you can find some very interesting threads with sometimes controversal discussions about 57ers
    21. The Kreta cufftitle is not original (it is a copy). Uwe
    22. I found the medal from Post 12 in Gold, the ribbon is in "normal" black-red-gold:
    23. It is a badge from a cycling club. "All Heil" was and is part of the name of some cycling clubs. And it is the salute amongst the cyclists. http://www.plakatkon...adfrau09019.jpg http://www.huesken.c...fotos/50517.jpg Uwe
    24. The first sports badge 1951, minis grade I, II and III:
    25. 101 Oberstleutnant Ulfert 102 Oberst Bürkner, Hauptmann Gürtler, Hauptmann ? 103 Hauptmann Sluyter, Oberstleutnant ? 104 Hauptmann Ritter, ?
