    1. I did see on some page there was no commander mentioned and v.B. as etatm. Stabsoffizier.

As my focus lies with the careers of (former) kurhessian officers, I did not look into this.

The GGT are online as well? Or do you have access to them in a library close to you?

Yes, of course, David ... keep up the great work! Let me add a couple of things: Gotha 1928 and 1940 both have his birth name as Alexander Christian Ludewig von Bastineller and death place Münster (7. Brigade), which would make sense. Carl Gottlob (1764–1830) as of Gotha. Not Gottlieb and not 1767. Biographisches Handbuch der preußischen Verwaltungs- und Justizbeamten 1740-1806/15 (p. 44) writes, Carl Gottlob tried to enter the Prussian Army, but was refused. Carl Gottlob was also made a Freiherr/Baron of the Kingdom of Westphalia on 13 May 1813, this was although not recognized by Prussia therefore never listed.

Did you find the additional sources online as well? The Gotha and the Handbuch on verwaltungs- und Justizbeamten?

As of the Rangliste 1850, he was Oberst and Brigadier of the Land-Gendarmerie (7. Brigade. Münster) with RAO4 and DAK. It can be assumed, that he also received the Kriegsdenkmünze für die Befreiungskriege (Preußen).

Great, Thanks! Could you provide a link to the source? Would like to add it to my bio on him on my site.

      Hi!

I found a von Bastineller in the army of Westphalia, squadron chief in the light cavalry of the Guard, major in the same regiment (02/06/1810) and colonel of the 2d cuirassiers (04/20/1811). Knight of the Crown of Westphalia (02/05/1810) and knight of the Legion of Honor.

I don’t know if he is the same or a member of the same family.

That would be his brother. They are both on my site

Thats a great addition! Is this from the ranklists as well?

A picture of him would be great, anyone. Thanks! Only RAO4? Could he have been the son of Generaladjutant Wilhelm Burghard Rüppel, later„von Helmschwerdt“?

      PS:

What is funny, I found three Hessian sources (1, 2, 3), and the name is always spelled Helmschwerd without "t".

He was the son of the General. Although he was ennobled as R. v. Helmschwerdt, the t seem to have been dropped early on. Its not uncommon.

    5. Hi!

Thanks for your efforts! So his final prussian odm

      ROA4

      DAK

      EK2

Could you provide the source you found the details about him? I would love to add these to his entry on my website later on.

Maybe he dropped the former civilian part of his last name. His father however was ennobled with the additional predicate of v. H. in 1818. Anyway R.v.H. was the name our later colonel was born with in 1823.

      Thanks again

      David

    6. Many of you know about my era and area of interest. Some of you know about the website I started.

This thread will serve as a place to announce updates on a regular basis

Just now I completed the page on the kurhessian Husaren-Regiment 1803-1806, with some analyses and links to sources.

Enjoy and tell me what you think of the information and presentation.

      .

    7. It appears that in the early 1830s, there were paintings of the Befreiungskriege installed in the Louvre. Appearently, the King of France admired the paintings and the actions of german units. This is said to have been the cause for some FEL promotion and awards. E.g. the kurhessian later Generalleutnant Bauer was promoted in the FEL. He wore only his royal FEL in later pictures as I recall.

Could the reason for showing to different grades of the FEL at Seebachs entry in the ranklist mean that he wore his imperial FEL5 and his royal FEL4?

Gentlemen, am I reading this right: He was promoted to Rittmeister on 25 April 1815? One year after entering as Premierleutnant? Gothaisches Genealogisches Taschenbuch der Uradeligen Häuser has this, I am just not sure, if he is the right one: Friedrich Karl Wilhelm von Seebach (b. 8 June 1787 at Gut Storndorf), Königlich württembergischer Kammerherr, Königlich preußischer Rittmeister (sic!), d. 2 December 1848 at Gut Cammerforst. Son of kurpfälzischer Kapitän George Philipp von Seebach (1748-1822). Wilhelm retired three years after his father died and became lord of the manor or Herr auf Storndorf, Cammerforst, Oppershausen, Flarchheim und Großen-Gottern. Am I on the right track? Thanks!

Would you happen to be able to provide a link to this information? I would like to add it to the other sources I mentioned at the end of his bio entry on my website.
