We will probably never know. Here a small extra: Walter Rudolf Junker (12 March 1895 – 21 June 1980), son of Otto Junker and Anna Karoline, née Morat. I was not able to find out if he was married or had children.

I thought, I saw a picture with the Spange to his EK II, but this is not on the list. Let me add: This site has his promotion date as Oberleutnant zur See on 14 May 1921, but Rangliste 1922 states 7 January 1920 ... maybe patent or RDA? Thanks!

I was hoping for a SEK3, or at least a SEK 4, but the Ranglisten der Deutschen Reichsmarine strangely only have the EK 2 and 1 listed.

The lower photo however is of a different Officer: Oberstleutnant Walter von Lossow (1872-1943).
Do you happen to know when Walter was promoted to Oberstleutnant? Thanks! His promotion to Major was 3 November 1914.

Thank you, Glenn!
So the date 17 April 1917 for the six generals above him in the Rangliste of the same year does not apply to him at all? Looking at the Rangliste 1918, this must be the case, now other generals with Patent dates 29 August 1917 and 14 December 1917 are in front of him.
The Prussian Ranglisten seem to be clearer, even if an officer is ernannt and therefore without Patent, at least they give an exact date.

Gentlemen, I am following and making notes. Let me see, if I get it right:
Oberst on 30 November 1914
Generalmajor (ernannt) without Patent on 17 April 1917 (where does the date 12 April 1916 come from? Maybe rank seniority?)
Patent as Generalmajor received on 16 June 1920
Generalleutnant on 1 July 1921
Does anyone have a complete list of WWI decorations? Thanks!

Impressive, Glenn ... once again!
Thank you
Andreas

I will. I doubt he did as his China medal was for a non combatant, awarded for staff work done in Germany.
He received the China Commemorative Medal (China-Denkmünze) in Steel for non-combatants in 1901. But don't forget, he was in China from 1933 to 1935, so it seems possible he received something from Chiang Kai-shek.

Gentlemen, Klaus-Henning von Schmeling-Diringshofen seems to be wearing 2 (?) ribbons. He served in China from 1934 to 1938. They are surely not from the Reichswehr, and he was KIA in September 1939. So what could the ribbons be? Flower Medals, or, what I am hoping for, something Chinese from Chiang Kai-shek. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I would also love to know, if GO Hans von Seeckt received any Chinese decorations. Please let me know, if you find out anything.

Areim, one question to your great-grandfather, please. Do you happen to know, although he retired 1944, if he endured any time as POW. Was he ever again Berufstätig after the war? Thank you!

Generalfeldmarschall Hermann Göring presented Colonel Lindbergh with the Order of the German Eagle and a magnificent sword (surely a special edition) for Luftwaffe officers (Luftwaffenschwert) on 18 October 1938. Or maybe Göring is just showing him ones of his swords? Somehow looks like a Pour le Mérite handle.
In order to extend his American and English pilot's license, Colonel Lindbergh visited the Fliegeruntersuchungsstelle of the Luftwaffe at the request of the American Embassy in Berlin and was examined by Oberstarzt Dr. Ernst Koschel. That would have been a sensational picture, but probably none were taken (trustworthy Arzt-Patienten-Verhältnis).
